Cannot send email - no account?

Hello,
Just downloaded emclient, setup 2 hotmail accounts. Tried sending a test email - screen shows “no account”

What is this? Utter incompetence. If the app has 2 accounts configured, and is downloading emails, how is it possible that there are no accounts to send email from?

Before you ask - yes, the imap and smtp settings are configured as required.

I fail to understand the programming logic used in saying “no account”. Is this how a first time
user experience should be?

Since I cannot attach more that 1 image in a message, here are some more

Sounds like “Airsync” is not selected.

Go to “Menu / Accounts” (PC) or “eM Client / Accounts” (Mac).

Then “select your account” on the left and click the “General tab” at the top.

Lastly “scroll down to Services” and “tick the AirSync option”. Then Save & Close accounts.

Ok after digging up what airsync is about, I found this

So many questions:

  1. Why am I supposed to bother about these details as a customer?
  2. If you guys know the problem, why don’t you make it the default protocol for Hotmail/outlook accounts in the first place?
  3. The logic behind saying “no account” still doesn’t make sense. A reasonable manager would have asked his programmer to give a message saying something like “existing accounts not configured correctly. Please refer to so and so section for help”

This design simply sucks. There is no semblance of usability here.

Update:
Now I found this:

Says MS stopped supporting airsync. So I’m confused. What exactly is the problem ?

We do. If you setup an MS account, it will have AirSync enabled by default.

That post is from 2015 or 2016. It was for a different issue and has no relevance to you not having AirSync enabled.

We made an announcement about the issue with your email provider in February when the problem was discovered. This post has links to others that explain the need to use AirSync to send messages.

Well clearly not, since it’s not enabled. I didn’t change any default settings.

If you go to Menu > Accounts > Add Account, and enter the MS account email address in the automatic setup, it will have IMAP/SMTP/AirSync all enabled by default.

So, today I decided to drop Outlook on Windows and switch to eM Client. After following the wizard, I got the same error as many people seem to have: Not able to send e-mail. No account set. It took me quite some time to find this thread and find that I had to switch on the AirSync, which apparently has NOT been activated automatically. I tried both the first option in the wizard, by just putting in my e-mail address, as well as the second option, selecting “E-mail” and then “Outlook”. So unlike mentioned here, it really isn’t activated automatically and as electronicsguy stated, it’s a pretty lousy way to meet eM Client as a new user.
I’m really not trying to be ungrateful here, it’s great that there’s a free option to not use MS software anymore, but come on, this post is two years old and I had to go through the same hassle as a lot of people unnecessarily.

AirSync “does normally automatically add on” when adding an Outlook account via the wizard on Windows and Mac. You don’t normally have to enable that.

@Cyberzork People keep saying that, but that doesn’t make it true.

It is true, as I have personally tested every version of eM Client since AirSync was enabled in eM Client on Windows and Mac and “it never fails to add” on via the wizard when I add an Outlook account. I carn’t fault it.

So there is some other eg: external factor causing AirSync not to add only for only a very small amount of users.

So all we can advise on this free community forum is to enable it “if you can’t select your account when composing mail” or “carn’t send mail” or “carn’t sync your calendar”.

Well, I’m running on legit Windows 10 on Dell Latitude E6520, downloaded eM from the site, installed it, put in my outlook mail address, received e-mail just fine but sending didn’t work from the get go. So there’s a fault.

Of course I don’t know how many people actually have this problem, but seeing as I found more threads about it quite easily (without the solution as mentioned in this one) there’s enough to call it a problem.

Again, not trying to be ungrateful here, just having a little trouble with people saying something is not happening while I’m looking at it happening.
