Task synchronization no longer works with iOS 13

The sync regarding calendars and contact is working fine, so it cannot be the password. Did you use latest iOS version, which is 13.5.1?

I see only this in the task folder

No, I don’t have an iPhone. I am an Android user.

Those triangles next to the folders means there is a connection issue.

Many thanks Gary! Unfortunately I have still not been able to eliminate the problem. :man_shrugging:

I neither have been able to reminders in apple to sync with em client. I gave up.Installed iCloud deleted readded etc. Should have to do all this. Not once have I got reminders to work.

I can get contacts and calendar.

I had no problem.

This is what I did

  1. Setup an iCloud account through their web interface using my Apple ID.

  2. Created an app specific password in my iCloud settings.

  3. In eM Client I added a new calendar account, and chose iCloud. Logged in using my Apple ID and the app password.

  4. eM Client synced with the iCloud account and I now have both my iCloud Calendar in eM Client’s Calendar section, and iCloud Reminders in eM Client’s Task section. Bi-directional, read-write.

If eM Client is not able to sync with the iCloud account, there will be an error in Menu > Operations > Log tab, or there will be a triangle warning icon next to the folders in eM Client. Going to either will give you more information on what is wrong.

Hi johncesta, may I ask which iOS version you have if you use an iPhone? In the past it worked fine, but with iOS 13 it doesn’t anymore. I mean with iOS 13 came a change in the task application, so that the synchronization no longer works.

Nope, I follow all that’s provided and while I get the iCloud calendar and see the reminders, neither syncs.

This is all I get all the time.

The only thing I can use emclient for is the contacts and mass mail.

I placed a help ticket on Created: 24 June 2020 23:39 Updated: 24 June 2020 23:39

And have heard nothing yet. Not even something that says, Hey John, but the program and we will answer your question.

If I even got that I may go and buy the program. But crickets?

The red triangle means that there is a connection issue. Please go to Menu > Operations and look for errors in the Log tab.

Ok maybe this is the reason for the problem: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210220

I think Apple has introduced a new protocol with iOS 13 for the reminders, which is not compatible with eM Client.

Quote: “If you upgrade your reminders on your iPhone with iOS 13 or later, your other devices — like your iPad and Mac — can’t access the reminders until you update your iPad to iPadOS or your Mac to macOS 10.15 Catalina.”

I’m facing the same issue? is it not possible anymore to sync icloud reminders with emclient?

Right, synchronization doesn’t work.

We already know that Apple lives in a universe of its own, and are not interested in being compatible with anyone else. That is nothing new.

It is. I think what was mentioned above is that tasks created on iOS13 don’t sync. Otherwise I have no issues syncing my tasks to iCloud.

Maybe I am in the minority, and maybe this is something like Google Calendar. In eM Client version 7 there were an handful of us who’s Google Calendars would not sync with eM Client. Everyone else seemed to be OK.

Hi Gary,
I am a Pro user an I have exactly the same problem as mentioned above.
Since I upgraded my Iphone to IOS 14 the tasks are not syncronized any more.
EM Client is showing the triangle but no additional message.

The explanation:
As soon as someone upgrades with iphone to IOS 13 or IOS 14 the protocol for communication with iCloud is changed. So iCloud “knows” if you are an IOS 12 user with old protocol or an IOS13/14 user with new protocol.
Have a look here: https://communities.apple.com/de/thread/250920446
or here, Microsoft has the same problems like em client: IOS 13 icloud reminders not syncing with Outlook 16 - Microsoft Community

So if you create a task in iCloud via browser as an android user it will communicate with the old protocol and sync with em client.
If I create a task in the browser it knows that I am an IOS14 user an will communicate with the new protocol an sync with em client does NOT work.

So I assume that em client has to adopt the new apple protocol.

Best Regards
Bernhard

Hi Gary,

just another info to support my theory:
Exactly on the day when I upgraded from IOS12 to IOS14 I’ve got a last task into my em client task list saying:
“Der Ersteller dieser Liste hat diese Erinnerungen aktualisiert.”
“Weitere Infos: https://support.apple.com/HT210220”.

Have a look at this comment from Apple:

Hi all,
I’m currently testing eM Client (free license) and face exactly the same problem (mentioned here

Obviously this problem seems to exist quite a long time. Has eM Client support reacted in any way to this? As I’m currently using the free license I’m not entitled to use VIP support

I cannot be the only user who wants to have the reminders synchronized properly between iCloud and eM Client!

Any comments would be really appreciated. :slightly_smiling_face:
