Synchronizing contacts with pop3

Does EMC not synchronize contacts with Gmail when using POP3 protocol? This is happening with me. Don’t try to convince me to convert to IMAP – I dislike the logistics of it very much.

No, that is because POP3 is a message protocol. It doesn’t sync anything, just gets new messages from the server.

However, you can no longer use POP3 with Gmail, so you will need to setup the account again using the automatic setup, which will include Google Contacts and Calendars.

Thanks, however you can use POP3 with EMC. I am doing it fine. You just have to do a special procedure to get a special password. It is documented here:

Over the past few days emclient has been unable to pop3 into my gmail accounts. I was getting password requided errors saying Server says auth username and password not accepted. What you need to do is Create and Use App Passwords in google. Google will create a special 16 digit password that you put into emclient. You also tell google that this password is for mail.
