Support for Google contacts and improved support for Google calendar

I can only sync the default Google calendar but none of the shared calendars, which is a shame. I’d love to be able to see and sync *all* my Google calendars. Haven’t found anything about this in the help file.

All other calender in Google requires a separate CalDAV account to be setup in your eM Client. Detail information can be found over here: http://www.emclient.com/em-client-wit…

Thanks for replying, but tried it but didn’t work. There is no CalDAV link in Google, just HTML, XML and ICS. Used ICS and it didn’t work. Any other idea? Or more spcific directions, maybe?

Okay, I checked the instructions again and obviously I didn’t follow them exactly. Now I did, but still no luck.
Do I actually have to enter the account ID in square brackets???
With or without - doesn’t work.

ICS is the iCal format. You need the CalDAV, which is different. For example if the primary calender is:
https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/u…
Under your calender settings, where you see all your calenders, next to the three button that you see, there’s a ‘Calendar ID’. You need to copy and paste instead of your primary ID. Example
https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/g…

Hi TNCS,
your information was indeed helpful. The Google link put me on the right track. It has worked fine.
I’m afraid I’m getting greedy now  Do you also know if/how I can embed a national holiday calendar from Google? I have added it to my Google calendar and would like to see the holidays in eM Client as well.
Thanks again.

You can download holidays from this site: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calen…

Than import the .ics file to eM.

All the ‘special’ calendar under Google Calendar is a supplement, it not a secondary/multiple calendar. Thus, cannot sync by the CalDAV protocol. This is Google part, not eM Client.

Thank you for your help - holidays are dsiplaying fine!

Maybe someone here can help me with the issue I am having. First off, I do have the sync options all enabled from this website: http://www.emclient.com/em-client-wit…

This solved the calendar issues that I was having, but I am still having contact issues. When I load a new contact through my Google Contacts in the web browser, it syncs automatically with eM Client. Great, that’s how it’s supposed to work. However, when I create a new contact in eM Client, it does not sync with my Google Contacts in the web, it just sits in eM. Maybe I have a setting wrong somewhere, but I was under the impression that this was supposed to happen automatically? Hopefully one of you is able to help me fix this issue. So far though I am very pleased with eM client overall. I just hope that I can get it functioning properly.

Thanks.

Hi, which version of eM Client are you using? And by any chance, are you using mobile sync with your Google Account?

I am using version 3.5.1… I’m sure that I probably am using mobile sync. I have everything automatically set up to come to my phone, although I’m using an Android phone, so Google does this automatically. I have not changed any settings to enable/disable mobile sync though. And I just discovered that my contacts are syncing with Google, however, they are not syncing under my contacts, rather they are syncing under “other contacts.” Is there a way to move them into the “My Contacts” folder?

Yup you are using Mobile sync. It one of the many reason I won’t ever get an Andorid phone - heavy integrations with Google cloud service, or WP7 - forced to use Live! and Zune service. Regarding to the “Other Contact”, as far as I know - no. This is entire the way it implement by Google’s part. If you are however using the Mail For Exchange protocol on Google Sync it will than go to “My Contact” and no way to change it either. And trust me, though you can do a restore, but you would not to want to mess with the ‘system’.

Google Contact is at it beta phase, it sync function regardless by whichever methods, MfE or Android integration (though a bit better) has it problems. MfE problem can date all the way back since 08. EM Client also have it problem with Google Contact, particularly with it methods on localize with Google. So if you are using mobile sync, I don’t recommend to make changes from eM side. Do it on-line or through your Android. Personally I would copy all the contact to local and disable the Contact service. But if you rely on regular change, avoid on using eM to do it.

Thank you so much. Your reply was extremely helpful.

If NOT, please… when will it happen?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
Does EMClient SYNC with Google Contacts? Not Import, but Sync?.

EM Client does support two-way sync with Google. But as explained above, has problems if you are using mobile sync with Google. But would work fine if you don’t.

It would be great, eM will support different google calendars and synced every change made in eM with the google entries.

EM Client does support multiple/different calendar under Google. You just need to add them as a seperate CalDAV account via the menu -> Tools -> Accounts.

That ́s right, but for example, defined colors in google calendars won ́t be synced.

That a localization difference between eM and Google. Hopefully it would be address soon.
