Slow backups

Provided you are backing up to a quick internal SSD (non mechanical drive), then that usually means you have a very large mail database.

So if the mail database is very large and Interferring with your computer work time, you can adjust when the automatic backup runs by “changing the schedule” to what ever days & time you want.

How to change automatic backup time Mac

Mac does indeed have a scheduler. It’s called launchd, and I’ve used it to schedule other tasks. I see now that eM Client has a launchd configuration file named com.emclient.mail.backup.plist (in ~/Library/LaunchAgents). So, I should be able to change the configuration to my liking, or perhaps disable automatic backups and create my own configuration.

Alternatively “you could also disable the automatic backup” and then just manually do the backup anytime via “Menu / Backup” to avoid Interferring with your work time. If you do decide to manually backup, you can see when the backup is complete in Show Operations via clicking the drop-down on the right of Refresh top left.
