Partial Download from Ionos IMAP? Version 10.1.4588

I have discovered that thousands of emails have been skipped for download from the IONOS server for a while. I have tried everything to solve this problem (Repair, clearing the blacklist, etc.)

Logging into the webmail server, I can see the 7000+ emails in the inbox. The emClient is showing like 10.

As a cross check, Thunderbird downloads the 7000 emails without a problem. So, now I am at a loss as to how to solve this. I like emClient very much - but the problem makes makes it unusable.

Do you have any suggestions how to fix this issue?

Have you tried removing and readding your account?

What is your incoming mail server address, port and security policy ?

What version of eM Client are you running?

Do you have any optionally installed firewall / security programs or optionally installed antivirus programs or VPNs?

1 - Yes. I deleted and reinstalled v10, including removing the eM database. eM Client is now reinstalled. Thunderbird is also installed as a cross check.

2 - I have no policies setup for incoming data.

3 - v10

4 - Webroot

The bottom line is that eM Client is cutting out about half the incoming mail. Thunderbird is not. There is no blacklist. So, I have to conclude that eM Client is dropping the ball somehow.

Example comparisons:

  • eM Client Inbox count: 119

  • Thunderbird Inbox count: 176

  • eM Client Archive count: 119,651

  • Thunderbird Archive Count: 180,583

So, for the Archive folder alone, eM Client is not showing 60,932 emails that Thunderbird does.

This additional piece of information may be a clue to the development team. If I search for one of the invisible emails in eM Client, eM Client will find it.

eM Client is cutting out about half the incoming mail.

Could be then you have enabled Inbox Categories where “unless you disable them on install”, all your incoming email is sorted into Categories in V10, where different accounts such as a eg: Gmail account have Inbox tabs Primary, Promotions, Social, Updates. Outlook accounts have a Primary & Other Category tab.

So if you see a “Primary” tab above your email, “look to the right of that” and see if you have more tabs to click on where I suspect your missing mail is.

If you then find the missing mail in another category tab, then you can either “drag it back” to the Primary Inbox tab or drag it to any other Category tab, or you can “right click on the email subject” and select the category you want it to go via the dropdown menu. Either way you will get a prompt appear to confirm for future emails

If you only want “some categories enabled” or want to “disable / hide categories completely” and just have the one main Inbox, then see my post in the link below.
