We have a licence for 2 computers.
I use eM Client with an e-mail pro plan from OVH on a backup PC and my colleague used their MX Plan.
Last week, my colleague switched to the e-mail pro plan.
That means a change in the IMAP and SMTP servers.
Despite we made the changes, we cannot get eM Client to work correctly with the e-mail account. It works with other OVH accounts (MX plan), but not with the new servers.
We tried several settings, but no way.
In order to check what is going on I wanted to copy/paste the settings from my backup PC.
I noticed then, that even with my own e-mail address eM Client does not work anymore since end of July.
On my everyday PC, I use Outlook, and I still get my e-mails correctly.
I guess that the OVH servers are not responsible for this problem, as it works with others e-mail client softwares.
Please, could you help to get this problem fixed?
I remain at your disposal for any further information that you may need.
Best regards.
We have seen that OVH servers are not correctly configured, specifically with authentication, so that might be the issue.
As you have a paid license, please open a support ticket with us. You can do that by clicking on Menu > Help > Get VIP Support. We can look at some logs and see where the problem is.
OVH servers seem to be falsely reporting support for GSSAPI login. In version 9 and earlier, eM Client chose this login only for some specific servers, but in version 10 eM Client supports it for all servers that report they have it. Unfortunately that means that as the server doesn’t really support GSSAPI the authentication fails and you can’t login to the server to get your email.
Or, in version 10 to work around the server issue, you can manually set a specific login method in Menu > Accounts under the diagnostics tab, insert this parameter, exactly as it is:
--force-imap-auth PLAIN
If it is with both receiving and sending, add this to the parameters:
