Moving from Postbox - Topics

Hi there,

As one of the users that have to move from Postbox (Mac user), I encountered the following issue:

After installing “em Client” Mac app, I used the option to migrate accounts and settings from Postbox. However, Topics (called “Tags” now in the eM Client) were not moved and associated to emails.

Is there any way to migrate from Postbox also with Topics? I have literally thousands of emails divided into categories using “Topics” in Postbox…

Hi, can you advise please? As of today, it’s less than a month until Postbox will end its support so it’d be great if I can know this at least in some advance.

I have literally thousands of emails divided into categories using “Topics” in Postbox.

If importing your postbox account didn’t import your existing Topics, then could be eg: those might have to be then manually recreated again in eM Client, as that part might not be compatible.

All I can suggest is to try updating to the latest V10 for PC or Mac via the release history page and then try the import again. Close eM Client before updating / instaling the update.

Before updating make a manual backup of eM Client via “Menu / Backup” incase you need to restore for any reason. You can see when the backup is complete in Show Operations via clicking the drop-down on the right of Refresh.

If that still doesn’t import your Postbox topics, and you have purchased eM Client Personal or Business version, then go to the following VIP support page and login with your registered email address and lodge a support request.

Lastly if you have to recreate Topics (hopefully you don’t) see my post link below for information.

Thanks for the reply. After I deleted all eM Client data, installed the newest version and did the migration from Postbox again from scratch, I can see Topics from Postbox now listed as Tags in the eM Client.

However, when I try to filter based on these tags, I have no results (for each Tag I get 0 results). It seems like only the names of the Tags were migrated but not the information on which emails were tags applied in the Postbox app.

Can you give me a hand please?

Sry I carnt help with that question, but other users on this forum who moved from Postbox might be able to assist you. It could mean possible some of your Postbox mail folders might not have imported depending on if they were under cloud account folders or were local custom folders.

If you click your mail folders, is all your previous mail showing in them, or is there some missing.

Did you ever get an answer for this - I’m a Postbox user and am just trying out emClient and found exactly the same thing happened to me. Most (not all) of my topics have migrated to tags, but none are associated with emails.
I’ve tried emailing the pre-purchase support, but have not received an answer.

As far as i know the latest 10.3.x versions “fixed those issues” which you can d/l and try importing again via the release history page - https://www.emclient.com/release-history. Close eM Client before upgrading.

If you already have the latest version and reimporting made no difference, then suggest “as you are still in your initial 30 day trial”, try re-emailing [email protected] who can advise.

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, I already have the latest version 10.3.2622 installed. I selected the Postbox import option at install.

I did get one email response that told me to try Menu>File>Import>Postbox, but as I already did that when I installed, I’m not sure whether I need to do it again?? No answer to my follow up email. I just wish they would be a bit quicker to respond to email. It’s very frustrating.
