the same problem occured with 10.4.4293 on an Mac M1 Tahoe 26.2. I have 4 Mail acounts. When I start emclient, it shows approx. 900MB RAM. After answering 2 messeges I noticed an increase of memory to 1,7GB. 
Do you have any news on this issue?
