losing emails

On my inbox I leave messages that I need to work on as a reminder. Unfortunately these keep disappearing lately. Most i have been unable to find either in junk or trash, a few i have found in trash. I have not moved these so why are they doing this? It’s worrying that I’m losing important emails.

Do you maybe have another device that is connecting to the same account?

Yes they do go to my phone too but I don’t use them or delete from there. If I open an email and just leave it in my inbox without doing anything they just seem to disappear.

One possibility is that you are viewing the emails in the Unread Smart Folder. After they are read, they will no longer be in that folder.

Why would they move from the inbox unless I delete them or file them in a folder? All other email programmes I’ve used just leave them in the inbox. Where would they go? I’ve not come across this before

What Gray describes is a view in the Smart Folders that displays only unread emails.  When they are read, they are not moved, but just no longer display in the unread messages view.  Try going to “All Inboxes” in the Smart Folders.

Thanks I’ve had a look in there but it mixes both my accounts together which is complicated. I’ve not used that before either only the inbox for each account. So maybe i’m not using a smart folder?? It also seems erratic - yesterday I lost some within hours of opening the email yet this morning they are still there! There seems to be no rhyme nor reason as to whether they stay or go.

I am new to emclient and I got on this forum for the exact reason as Elaine Webb.  Emails in my INBOX are disappearing.  I only view through “ALL INBOXES” so that is not the issue.  it seems to me that the Emails that disappear are ones that I reply to - if this helps.  Also, I only use my PC for emails.  I do not use my phone or any other device.  Thanks!

Hi Peter I am still using it but still losing emails regularly. I try to deal with my emails straight away so either file them or delete them but it’s the ones that i leave in my inbox that still disappear. I haven’t got to the bottom of the problem but neither have I found a better alternative.

Hi.  There seem to be a lot of intelligent people in this forum; I have confidence that someone will figure this out.  I have the feeling this is more a feature than a bug - that there is a setting we need to change (I hope that is the case).  It would seem peculiar if only two users were having this issue!

I used to use Thunderbird which in general I liked.  It had some issues which is why I switched.  If I cannot resolve this problem, I  will not stay with emclient.

I hope you’re right. I tried thunderbird too at about the same time but for some reason on my pc the font is so tiny that I can’t read it properly and I tried everything to make it bigger but couldn’t so I had to give up on that.

Who is your email provider?

It happened the same to me 1 hour ago, i havent solved it yet. I was looking to my Inbox when suddenly the whole last week dissapeared… the mails are not in junk or deleted items, so really i cant find them. I had to search with the name of a Person i remember got an email and found it, but i dont know where is it so i can look there…
Help please!!!

I’m trying to see if there is commonality among those with this issue.  I did some research on AT&T and there were issues like this with 3rd party email clients but seemed to be related to another (POP3) email client accessing the server.

Can you verify that they appear in the webmail client?

First, I do not know what this means: “Can you verify that they appear in the webmail client?”

Second, I have been watching specific emails as tests and have not seen any disappear.  I recently migrated from Thunderbird and was able to pull over most of my email history.  It is very possible that the “missing emails” were originally in Thunderbird.  Perhaps my problem is not happening with emails received in emclient.

I will post again if anything changes

I’ve searched for missing emails as I knew sometime what had gone but never found them. I had to login to either thunderbird or outlook and resend them to myself as they were still in those.

Hi everyone,

Regarding this issue, is it possible that you either have your Inbox sorted by read/unread or you’re viewing the incoming emails in Smart folder - unread? Then getting back to the received email would cause that you wouldn’t be able to find that email as before you replied to it.

Russel

Neither of these apply to me - My emails are sorted by received and I’m viewing in inbox not smart folder.

Hi Elaine,

Are you able to reproduce this behaviour “on demand”? If so, send me please an email to [email protected].
