I organize my Start Menu into folders such as Tools, Internet, Office, etc. I place the eM Client link into the Tools folder. Unfortunately eM Client periodically creates a new link outside this folder at the following path:
C:\Users<MyUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
Can anyone suggest how to stop it from happening? it’s the only program I use that does this.
As I mentioned in your other thread post about this, I suspect you would probably have to modify the registry to move eM Client on the Start Menu to wherever you want “as there is no option in the program install or settings to change the default” location on the Start Menu.
Alternatively if you have purchased the program and have a current active subscription, go to the Pro support page and login and lodge a support ticket and they might be able to help you with that problem.
Thanks cyberzork. I started a new post with a slightly different request. I realized that simply moving it from Current User to All Users wouldn’t help since it still wouldn’t be in the designated folder. What I need instead is to stop it from creating new links. I wouldn’t know where to begin in the registry to have it not moved but its creation eliminated.
Unfortunately, I don’t have an active subscription.

It’s not likely anyone will know that answer on this free community forum as to why sometimes a new link periodically is created outside the Windows Startup menu path you mentioned.
On my own Win 10 / 11 computer that path never changes, but I don’t ever move eM Client into custom folders or custom categories on the Start Menu so that could be why. I only ever create shortcuts from eM Client to either the desktop or taskbar as my friends also do.
It could be that eM Client is eg: not designed to be moved outside of the Parent / Root folder of the Start Menu and won’t work that way. Dunno.

I would suggest you purchase the program where you get 1 year VIP Support or extend your support subscription (if you previously bought it) to get help from the company support staff directly.
You also then have access to the full features of eM Client.
