Occasionally, when I select a mail to read, the message pane title will change to the subject of the mail, but the mail itself will not load. If I choose another message, in the same or a different folder, the title changes, but again, the message is not shown. I seem to be able to do any other action, including deleting, moving, and archiving emails, using the calendar and contacts, but I just can’t read messages.
Shutting down and restarting clears the issue.
It’s unclear if this relates to https://forum.emclient.com/t/em-client-hangs-frequently/109107 as those users seem to be on Macs.

Could be your messages are just not all cached properly so then they sometimes don’t display.
Try going to “Menu / Accounts” and setting your account to download messages and attachments offline as in the below V9 & V10 IMAP acct examples and see if that fixes it.
After saving accounts click Refresh, and then click the dropdown on the right of Refresh and click “Show Operations” to see when that’s all completed. It can take a bit of time to complete depending on the size of your online mailbox.

If that still doesn’t fix the problem, I would suggest next if you have an IMAP, Exchange, Office 365, or iCloud account and nothing in Local Folders, “try creating a new database”, by first closing eM Client and then going to the following eM Client hidden database folder below, and then “rename it to eg: eM Client-Old”. Then reopen eM Client and setup as new and see if that fixes it.

Thanks, I had that set up for my Exchange account, but not for the others. I’ll keep monitoring, and if it happens again, I will try your last suggestion. I don’t have anything in Local Folders at all.
Incidentally, what does the “raw download” actually mean?
