eM Client 6 Released

On my system, the minor graphics bug still exists during manual Exchange mail setup: the setup status messages are not visible because they are “behind” the fill-in boxes for username and password.

[Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, running at 1920x1200]

I have version 5. When I select Check For Updates from the Help menu it says no updates available. Why doesn’t it know that there is a major update? Why didn’t I get an email about this update? I found out by accident, but will try it now.

Yeah that’s one annoying bug!! :frowning:

My version 5 also failed to update through the application. Apparently meaningless.

Afaik free edition does not support automatic updates more then a year after registration.

If you are on free edition, consider to gather five friends and buy five lifetime licenses nearly at the price of a single year license.

My version 5 was fully paid and the update function displayed “no updates” I’ve since updated on my own.

(with Latest update installed) At boot up, I am getting a dialog reporting an error. After sending it off to emClient the data base is checked.

I believe that as xp shuts down that emclient is not closing properly.

Em Client runs well when starting and stopping it manually…

So the problem is occuring as a result of emclient’s autostart during bootup…

So, as a further test. I shut down emclient manually. Then rebooted… when emclient started during boot up, still got this error. Followed by a database check…

eM Client (6.0.19690.0)
Windows: Microsoft Windows NT 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3, Framework: 2.0.50727.3649
The following error has occurred:
MailExceptions.OperationException: Specified method is not supported.
at MailClient.Protocols.Common.FolderSynchronizer.ThrowNotSupportedException()
at MailClient.Protocols.Common.FolderSynchronizer.MailClient.Storage.Synchronization.IFolderSynchronizer.Create(Folder folder) etc…

Michael. I have addressed multiple issues and never have gotten a response.
The purpose of the beta testing was to provide good feedback. I hope you are receiving this and in good faith responding. I hope I am not just writing these things to a black hole.

The errors stopped with the newest release however the database checking still goes on in my office machine, XP sp3. This home machine seems okay.

I do not think its a shutdown issue but rather one that occurs during startup. Perhaps the cpu is busy with other start up issue such as virus pre-scan and
this is causing problems for emclient. Closing and opening the program manually has never been a problem. Closing it manually, then shutting down, then rebooting still caused the database to be checked. So the problem is if the program is being disturbed by boot up in XP.

Another issue: pictures do not resize in a document.

Previous issues… if Chat is unchecked on the right task bar… it will return
randomly and be displayed. The Next and Previous arrows move in the wrong direction. That is, if the newest is at the top of the list. Finally, suggestion that you have an option that has the client startup minimized the taskbar.

Otherwise it seems to be getting better!

Conversation view would be great as an option, as long as you can toggle the option or off, so if you don’t want to use it you don’t have to.

Thanks for the new version! I am so glad Subject Editing is now available! It makes filing my emails even easier now because I can update the subject to something more specific so I can find it later.

Updated to version 6.0.19714.0.
IMAP connection still gives “Server says: failed” every few minutes :frowning:
Did you find anything in the IMAP logs I sent you?
I realized that this message appears especially when EM Client tries to sync folders that I do not need at all. Unfortunately, hiding these folders does not help as it does not exclude them from syncing (any chance to change this?)

Hi Ruediger,

You can prevent accounts from being synchronized as follows:

Tools --> Accounts --> select the account of which you do not want to receive e-mails from --> ‘general’ tab --> use the lower 2 check boxes:

* include when sending / receiving e-mails

* enable account

Hi Hans,

this disables the whole account, I only wanted to keep certain folders from syncing.
Hiding them is not a solution, they are still getting synced.

More important is the bug I have reported in beta 2 and still present in the (second) final release of Version 6 (imap server asking for password again and again although password is correct). Any news from the developers regarding this issue?

eMail list with compact layout: Use subject instead of email address in second line.

Today, compact email list layout isn’t that usefull: First line lists name and date, second line eMail address. I have to highlight each mail indiviually and look what it is about.

It would be by far more usefull to have the subject line instead of the eMail address in line two.

do you have disabled “show window when an error occurs”?

Jan

you are welcome :slight_smile:

This should be resolved by installing .net 2 service pack from here http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downlo…

Jan

Hi, can I ask to what version you have updated it?
