eM Client 5 Release Candidate #2

Hi Mark,

Chris

Is there any way to customize the details shown in contacts (upper right corner) ??

I do see that often the fax# is displayed although there is a business phone and mobile number available and I can’t customize it on build 5.0.17189.0

In v5 RC2, mail format for reply always defaults to HTML even though I have it set to “autodetect from original message”

I got the auto-update yesterday to build 17189. Is this the 5.0 final release, or is it another beta RC?

An announcement of these updates would be helpful.

I just got auto-update to 5.0.17211.0 ???

No announcement - no change- log - …

That is not what I expect as a professional testing phase … :frowning:

that remark is not accurate. When the automatic download appears, it comes with a listing that is displayed. You are most likely ‘complaining’ about the fact that it is not provided in a message or not listed the same in the forum. There is a display of what is in the update.

Dick:

My remark is perfectly right ! The list of changes presented with the download is the proposed generic list of changes for 5.0 which was already provided as part of the postings here in the forum and that is not what a professional development environment understands as proper information around testing and steering a release process.

For a couple of weeks we are now testing a couple of new builds, providing bug reports and/or feature requests and answering questions about how things work etc.etc.

My expectation would be a quality assured list of accepted bugs, accepted feature requests and a very detailed list of which points from that lists are fixed/added to which build. Currently we are testing bugs again and again hoping that things may be fixed …

The whole process visible by us customers is very much uncoordinated and I seriously hope that there may at least be a kind of professional development and testing approach behind the scenes !

Being now in IT business for more than 25 years and leading development organisations of 1000+ professionals with >200 mio EUR project budget p.a. I do expect a more professional and resource friendly approach while running through RC phases.

I already paid my license fees and usually I could expect a well functioning and finally tested product at the end of development. Nevertheless I am happy to provide feedback and bug reports but I don’t want to spoil my valuable life time while poking in the fog because of a missing structured approach …

Urmel, I totally agree with you. I’ve been asking for release notes on each of the beta releases and there has been NO information other than a recommendation to look through these forum responses. There should be a very specific list of bug fixes and new features with each release. Otherwise, we are forced to either stumble on them by chance, or keep our own list of “favorite bugs” to check and see if they’ve been addressed. NOT an efficient testing process.

I really like the product and the 5.0 improvements are significant, but a little more information would help tremendously.

Have you already added a larger Icons to eM Client
so it looks better in the Rocketdock?

Anyone else having problems when scrolling through HTML messages? I am seeing slightly delayed scrolling followed by it then sometimes scrolling back up a few lines by itself.

Meant to say this is with a Logitech mouse (with their drivers) on a Windows 7 64 bit system

I am using a Windows 7 64 system with a logitech mouse (with current drives) and experiencing no problems with release 5.0.17211.0, released Dec 10, 2012

All seems OK now, I had applied a registry fix to force emClient to use IE9 for rendering HTML messages when I was running v4. I have removed this and rebooted and the problem seems to be resolved now. Wonder if the last update and the hack didn’t get on well together?
