You need to find the folder where eM Client stores custom themes and delete the file for the specific theme. On my Windows 7 comp the custom themes are in:
Is there anywhere I can find a visual tutorial for editing/creating eM Client themes? I mean something that labels the various parts of eM Client with their corresponding xml tags from the theme file, so I know for sure what I’m actually changing.
Also, is there an xml editor that does things like show you the actual color for the html color code when you click on it? At the moment, I’m using XML Notepad 2007, because it’s made for Windows and easy to find. Any recommendations are welcome.
Hi,
unfortunately there’s no official guide to xml theme editing, maybe other users have something of their own. If you want you could try using PSPad, but I’m not completely sure if it
fits your criteria.
@ajvincelli: If you used Notepad, you must have gotten to know the code very well. I forgot the tag that defines the color of the horizontal splitter lines in the right sidebar. I found it somewhere before, but I can’t remember where. Do you know what it is?
It would be a ‘nice to have’ if someone from EMclient took a screenshot of EMclient, and annotated every UI element with the corresponding XML values. It doesn’t have to be anything elaborate.
Right now customizing the theme is a brutal endeavor…
No Master Template XML with all possible UI elements
Comments in XML are nice, but still too vague to accurately identify UI element
Some XML values don’t seem to change anything in UI… (deprecated?)
I agree, but a guide might be too much to ask for, I would be happy with just an annotated image of the emClient UI with all the possible XML values listed in the corresponding areas.
I like emClient, but …ugh… flat design fads are so August of 2013… ; )
@ajvincelli: OMG! I can’t imagine doing this without syntax highlighting. You should try something like notepad++
And like to test it but ther ́s a error Message:
“DTD ist in diesem XML-Dokument aus Sicherheitsgründen unzulässig.
Zum Aktivieren der DTD-Verarbeitung müssen Sie die ‘ProhibitDtd’-Eigenschaft für
‘XmlReaderSettings’ auf ‘false’ festlegen und die Einstellungen an die
‘XmlReader.Create’-Methode übergeben.”
This is a great theme. The first I’ve downloaded that has a consistent coordinated set of colours. I’m not wild about the brown palette, but it’s really well put together. I’d like to try and adapt this to grey, but it may take some time.
