Automatic Archiving doesn't seem to work

Hi everyone,

I’m having problems with Automatic Archiving. I did setup it as follows:

Yet, nothing really happens, no messages are moved, nothing. I did try with different “days old” values - from 1 up to 730, but the result is always the same. I did find multiple topics here on forum, regarding automatic archiving, but it seems that either OPs misunderstand how both methods of archiving work (server side vs local), or just drop the topic after a few messages, with no answer.

Can I get some help please?

For the automatic archive, it goes into the Local Archive folders located below your other account folders.

Thank you @cyberzork but I did read the blog already, as it was mentioned in multiple such topics here. I know where these archived mails are supposed to land, this article doesn’t help unfortunately. I did everything according to documentation (that’s why I’ve posted how it’s all set up on my side), program doesn’t give any errors and yet, the function doesn’t work.

Any other ideas? :frowning:

Do you see an Archive folder created either “under your Account folders” or in “Local folders” at the bottom left of eM Client ?

Also what email account @bla are you trying to Auto Archive ?

Lastly what version of eM Client are you running ? and do you have Windows or Mac and OS Version ?

Here’s my folder list - top is for server, bottom local:

As you can see there’s Archive folder on server side, so manual “Move to Archive” works flawlessly.

When you setup and enable Auto Archiving, “Make sure you set an Archiving Scope” as in the eM Client Blog example video screenshots below, where the eg: Gmail IMAP folder scope is set to “All Mail” which in the blog example holds all the mail in the Gmail account.

Once you have then “Enabled automatic archiving” and clicked “Apply” at the bottom, you will then soon after see the automatic archive folder appear called “Archive” below your email accounts as in the blog below example screenshots.

Now if you are not seeing the Archive folder “separately under your email accounts” like in the blog example, then i don’t know why as that is normally what happens.

I’m back, still looking for an answer.

Here’s my AA configuration, all according to the blog post. emClient does ask me, every 7 days, if I want to perform AA, to which I answer YES. I can see in operations that AA checks all the folders, but despite the fact that there are messages way past 365 days mark - no messages get moved.

I don’t see “Archive” section as mentioned in blog post.

That’s my only gripe with emClient, after a few years of continuous use. Any help will be appreciated.

As you still have the same problem and have the auto archiving setup correct and have the latest Windows V9.2.2157 version, suggest to try uninstalling eM Client and reinstalling if you haven’t already and see if that fixes the problem. You can d/l the same version via the release history page.

Note:- When you uninstall, “don’t delete the database when asked on the uninstall wizard”. Also before uninstalling allways best to make a backup of eM Client via “Menu / Backup” incase you need to restore for any reason. You can see when the backup is complete in Show Operations via clicking the dropdown on the right of Refresh at the top left.
