Android App - "Calendar, tasks, contacts and notes coming soon" - when is soon

Yes the latest Droid V10.3.1698 is way faster now in synching and opening emails etc. definitely recommend updating to this version.

@Michal_Burger

This is something we know it’s missing and we currently work on that. It should be available in the beta in couple of days.

Wondering when the Android Beta will be available with “Calendar” event notifications?

I’m currently using the latest V10.3.1746 and no event notifications as yet using OS 14 Droid mob.

We are working on that, but we still need some more time. My expectation is it should be ready in 2-3 weeks.

Installed from the APK you shared @Michal_Burger, thank you for sharing this.

It’s great to see the calendar functionality there, however it is not syncing with my desktop. Is there something else I need to do other than use the QR Export function within desktop to enable this?

Thank you, Jamie

I have been using eMC on Windows for several years (pro version) and other email clients for much longer, but I have only just bought my first smartphone, convinced by the privacy features of /e/OS (Android 13 now) and the fact that it does not exchange data with Google.

I have a question about contacts. Will eMC contacts be integrated into the phone’s contacts, including folders (or does the eMC address book work independently)?

It seems that sort options in mail lists are not persistent. If I choose a sort, then the app closes and is re-opened, sort reverts to sort-by-Date. I prefer to sort by Flag so I can pin some messages at the top.

I second this request

I can’t figure out how to view tasks from all accounts at once, like you can on the Windows client. I can only view one at a time, which is not always useful.

if you contacts are all in a cloud IMAP, Exchange, Office 365 or iCloud account, then you will see all your same contacts in the Android mobile app using the latest V10.3.2040

If you have just bought your first Droid phone it should normally come with OS 14 in the last few years and most droid phones are now also getting OS 15 pushed as well. So check for OS updates on your mobile.

My contacts are only in the eMC address book on my PC (Windows). I’m not sure how I can transfer them to Android while keeping the address book folder structure. I was hoping that eMC would provide me with a simple solution. I tried exporting a single vcf file: importing my thousand-plus contacts worked, but the folders were lost (as expected).

Yes you need to export them out of your Windows address book and then import them into eM Client desktop via “Menu / File / Import”. eM Client also has a Windows address book importer you can use as well as .vcf. see link at the end for importing .vcf or .wab windows address book file.

Then on the import wizard “select a cloud email account contacts folder in eM Client” to import them into. EM Client desktop will then sync those contacts to your online account mailbox which will then inturn sync those online contacts to the Android mobile app contacts.

Yes contact folders “don’t normally import” only the contacts themselves. So you normally have to recreate the same contact folders in eM Client for desktop (in a cloud email account), and then eM Client will then sync those same contacts and contact folders to the Android app.

Then anytime you add new contacts either on your desktop or mobile app, make sure you add them to your cloud account contacts so your desktop and mobile are then the same contacts.

I don’t see how to synchronise my local EMC address book. In fact, according to the FAQ, it isn’t possible:
www.emclient.com/faq-getting-started
Can I synchronise my calendar, contacts or tasks as well?
… If your provider does not support synchronising any of these items, you can still use the local calendar, contacts and tasks. Please note that items saved locally cannot be synchronised.
I’ll leave it at that. Thank you for your help.

I don’t see how to synchronise my local EMC address book.

Yes your local address book in eM Client desktop “won’t sync to your other devices” as it’s only locally in your computer.

So if all your contacts are only in local contacts, you have to copy, move or drag your local address contacts to a cloud account address book “above the local contacts” in eM Client for desktop, which will then sync to all your other devices the same so you can then see the same contacts using the eM Client mobile apps or any other device with the same cloud email account.

Or alternatively as I advised further up, import your address book “directly into your cloud email account contacts” in eM Client for desktop on the import address book wizard via “Menu / File / Import” without having to copy , move or drag them later from local address book contacts.

If you don’t have a cloud eg: IMAP mail account you can setup free ones at eg: Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo etc to then sync to eM Client on mobile.

Sorry for not being more specific: what I meant was I don’t see how to synchronise (export) my local EMC address book to a to a CardDAV account, keeping the address book folder structure (or at least assign a group name to each contact according to the contact folder – I’m not familiar with CardDAV, so I don’t know exactly what it makes possible).

Isn’t this a feature that EMC is missing?

what I meant was I don’t see how to synchronise (export) my local EMC address book to a to a CardDAV account, keeping the address book folder structure.

If you already have a new CardDav account contacts folder added into eM Client on the desktop, then “select the Local Contacts you want to copy” and then “right click on the selected contacts” and select “Copy to folder” or “Move to Folder” on the dropdown menu, and then “select your CardDav contacts folder”. Then click Refresh to sync those to your CardDav account contacts.

Or you could go to “Menu / File / Export” on the desktop and export your Local Contacts to a eg: vCard or Csv file and then import that file via “Menu / File / Import” and choose your CardDav account contacts folder, and then click Refresh.

Or you could just eg: Drag the contacts you want from the Local Contacts to your CalDav account contacts folder, and then click Refresh.

The mobile app will then sync with the same CalDav account contacts.

Lastly if you don’t already have your CardDav account setup then go to “Menu / Accounts” and click “Add Account / Contacts” and choose CardDav to setup.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I still need to set up a CardDAV server (Nextcloud) or find a service I can access. In the meantime, I’ve just been exporting/importing contacts via a VCF file.

Is the approved version with calendar integration now available on Google Play?

Or do we still download the APK from here?
https://dist.emclient.com/dist/Android/emclient-10.3.1565.apk

It is still in beta, but if you join the beta programme, you can download it on Google Play
