Android App - "Calendar, tasks, contacts and notes coming soon" - when is soon

Hello we are still waiting for Android with the official announcement, but for iOS you can join beta program here:

25 days ago, I complained about the false hopes that have been raised of a new Android version coming soon. You responded by writing that the new Android version would really only be a few days away.

Apparently, the people at eM Client are moving very quickly towards the release date. According to Einstein, time passes slower for objects that move quickly. So when you write “ a few days,“ it really means for us users on earth a few months or a few years. Now, I get it.

I read that when the big Android version finally arrives, it may only be a beta version? After all that time? And will it not include both calenders and contacts? Say it ain’t true!

Have you read the text above? The beta is already available for iOS devices. For Android, it is now waiting to be certificated by Google. Normally it takes 24 hours, now the process is already 8 days with no response from Google, there is nothing we can do about it.

And trust me everybody in eM Client is doing his best to make it released.

I am having a problem with the iPad beta. Specifically , I cannot get my Caldav calendars to show. Adding the url, name, and password shows no errors, but the folder and calendars simply don’t show up.

I have sent a response via Testflight. Is that the correct way to report issues?

And, while I am here, is the issue with the app or me? Am I doing something wrong ? Has anyone successfully link Caldav calendars to the iPad beta?

Hello what is your provider of CalDAV server? Do you use a standalone CalDAV account? Is it working with the same setup on the desktop? If yes, have you try to import the account via QR export?

I use Webo where I have a Nextcloud account which stores my caldav calendars. The url is https://nextcloudXX.webo.cloud/ where XX are digits. The account has no email attached to it. My email comes via a different host (Greengeeks).

Exactly the same set up works on the desktop version, and also on other calendars on the iPad.

I am away from my workroom until next Wednesday so I can’t try using the QR code until then. In the meanwhile I am happy to do anything on the iPad that might help identify the issue.

Any update on what is causing the delay? 17 days and counting since it went to Google for certifiucation!

Yeah exactly as you say, in fact it is even 18 today. There is no response from Google, only general notice that it can take longer than 7 days and they don’t guarantee anything :-(. That is how monopolies work. We can do absolutely nothing about it. This process until now never took more than 3 days.

We can distribute APK for real fans though.

Well I am a fan and would like to give it a go. But please send instructions as to how to install the APK as I have not done that before.

@Michal_Burger You can share a link to the APK

HUGE fan here, refreshing this page on a daily basis as well as the Play Store waiting to get started. I’m also a very experienced beta tester and Android user.

I’d love to give this a go ASAP!

Thanks in advance!

It is here:

Thanks, duly installed and first impressions are excellent. Exactly as I would expect from eM Client!

I do have one query/feedback - is there an approved location to do this?

Email address [email protected]

I’ve downloaded as well - will provide feedback as necessary!

Downloaded it, and started using it yesterday. First impression is that it works very well indeed. Many thanks!

Downloaded the APK this morning and for the most part it looks good. The one thing I’m struggling with is I don’t see where I can share the Tags across applications (i.e. mail, calendar and contacts) like I can in Windows. Probably a user error.

Go to Settings->Tags. If you click on the top bar, you can change an account you are editing tags on, so for example you can edit the tags on Gmail and these should be synced across application.
Tags management for calendar and contacts are yet to be implemented.
