10.3 stability

Heureka, it seems we have a breakthrough. We’ve found a workaround for that issue and it is included in this version:
https://www.emclient.com/dist/v10.3.1720_Mac/setup.pkg

Can you please try it and confirm it really resolves the issue?

It was super hard to find it, but by disabling an undocumented cache in webkit the macOS 15.4 bug/crash seems to be bypassed. It works for us, hopefully it will work for you too.

giving it a shot…fingers crossed ! thanks

This is really great news. I’ll definitely give it a go. Thank you!

I’ve been using v10.1 on my desktop (macOS 15.4; not 15.4.1 yet) today and, several hours in, it still seems to be working fine. I’ve tried to crash the app by opening messages in a new window (double-clicking on messages) and, even though I’ve tried 20 times or more, I’ve not been able to get it to crash. I’ve also tried clicking through the Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Attachments, etc. options in the left hand panel and I’ve tried the Contact Details, Agenda, Invites, and Calendar in the Sidebar on the right. None of this has crashed the app. I then also tried collapsing/expanding the left and right hand panels, perhaps about 10 times each, but no problems here either. So far, I’ve not been able to get v10.1 under macOS 15.4 to crash!

With your new release, I’ll install this on my laptop with the post-Postbox eM Client 10.3 setup, which has been somewhat “quarantined” since the stability issues arose. I’ll do some testing there and let you know what I find…

The update is now officially released. Based on our tests it resolves the macOS 15.4 issue. We’ll be closely watching whether Apple will finally resolve the bug.

So far 1.5 days of no crashes! I am very optimistic since it was crashing hourly or more prior to the update. Fingers crossed I can keep using em client and not have to go back to Outlook !

I still continue to have these issues

This is a completely different topic. This topic is about application crashes. Your problem seems to be is connected to internet connection stability, network issues or a server deliberately closing the connection. Please open a different topic with that.

Hi Michal, to keep you informed:

  • Using 10.1.4828 under macOS 15.4, I’ve still not had a crash.

  • I updated my laptop to 10.3.1720.0 under macOS 15.4.1 last week and, with medium usage, I’ve not yet had a crash! Here’s hoping this means the team has indeed found a workaround for now. Thank you very much for everyone’s efforts and for working hard to find a rapid solution while awaiting Apple’s bug fix!

Mine is crashing constantly since the last update. Multiple times per day.
It’s always in the background, but often I go back to the app and it’s just a spinning beach ball, which i’ve not seen on my Mac for a few years. It’s synced to 2 regular gmail accounts, and two 365 accounts.
Is reverting to the previous build possible? Any tips?

MacBook Pro M2 / MacOS Sonoma 14.7.2 / eM Client 10.3.1720 (b574c3b)

Hi Rexx, it’s possible this would be a new crash, can you send us the crash log?

Close eM Client
Run eM Client from Terminal: press (Cmd+Space) and type (copy) in
“/Applications/eM Client.app/Contents/MacOS/eM Client”
Hit enter and wait for the app to crash / or do the actions you know will crash it
A detailed log should appear in the Terminal after eM Client crashes again so just copy the log and send it to [email protected]

If you want to try a previous update until we can find a fix, all versions can be found in our release history: Release History | eM Client

Thanks. Running now via terminal.
BTW your command needed “quotes” as per below as it wasn’t working with the spaces between eM and Client. Figured out via google tho. I’ll report back!

/Applications/“eM Client.app”/Contents/MacOS/“eM Client”

Yes, if using the macOS (UNIX) terminal, there are different ways you can do it, including your usage of quotations around parts of the command that include spaces.

Higher up the thread, you’ll see you can also use backslashes in UNIX commands to get round the spaces:

/Applications/eM\ Client.app/Contents/MacOS/eM\ Client

And also kgiddings suggested using quotation marks and I believe this would work as well:

“/Applications/eM\ Client.app/Contents/MacOS/eM\ Client”

I’ve posted 2 logs today, and it’s just crashed a 3rd time in one day, so i’m about to send that in,.
It’s been pretty stable for the last few weeks, nothing has changed on my system.
I’m on macOS Sonoma 14.7.2, can anyone confirm if MacOS 15 Sequoia could solve the issue and if i should upgrade? Happy to try.
For now i have to ditch eMclient and revert to Apple Mail..

Hi Rexx, Oh, I’m sorry you’re having stability issues. My eM Client has been very stable since some of the updates, so I wonder if there have been any other changes on your machine, such as other software updates? I’m using macOS 15 (Sequoia) and it’s been OK. It’s perhaps had more teething troubles with little issues than some of the previous macOS upgrades, but it’s generally working fine for me now. I don’t know if my eM Client experiences are partly due to Sequoia, that will be your call ultimately.

I updated my Mac to Sequoia shortly after my post, it was a quick and painless, no issues so far with emclient. Will report back, hopefully i won’t need to! Thanks, Rexx

Sounds promising so far! Fingers crossed.

There is also alot of updates and fixes in the latest Mac and Pc V10.3.2040. So recommend to also update to that as well from the release history page if you don’t have that new update automatically pushed yet. Seems to run fine on my Mac with Sequoia. Make a backup first via “Menu / File / Backup” incase you need to restore for any reason. You can see when the backup is complete in Show Operations via clicking the dropdown on the right of Refresh.

Crashed 3 times today on the newly updated MacBook with fully updated Sequoia.
eMclient always lives in the background, i go back there at times and application not responding… i’ll send the log in.
I grabbed the very latest build as per the post above from cyberzork.
So that’s me, i’m done with emClient on my M2 MacBook Pro, i just can’t have crashes.. nothing ever crashes on my mac. Back to crappy apple mail and researching other paid alternatives for email that can have FOUR accounts and NOT look like a phone chat window! Damit might have to pay for outlook, happy to provide other info to get to the bottom of it.

Oh, that really does not sound fun at all. I’m really sorry to hear you’re having these troubles, Rexx. :slightly_frowning_face:

At this point, I’m not sure what could be causing it. My experience has been very different across three machines (M1 MacBook Pro, M2 MacBook Air, and M2 Mac Studio), so I’m scratching my head about the cause. If nothing else is crashing, I’d not suspect a hardware fault (e.g. RAM). I’m wondering if there is a particular setting or conflict with another installation that could be the culprit.

I’m just a user like you, so, yes, I’d recommend sending your logs to VIP Support and make sure the severity is rated sufficiently high because eM Client is essentially unusable for you at the moment. Hopefully they will identify the cause and will be able to make it work for you again if you so choose.

I fell back on Outlook temporarily while I had initial crashing issues after the 10.3 upgrade, but was very glad when I could move away from Outlook and back to eM Client once things had been sorted for me. I know that you’ll be looking at other options right now, but I still hope the eM Client team will be able to put things right for you. :crossed_fingers:

Ok i see you sent in the crash log today using the latest V10.3.2040. Hopefully eM Client can find out why its happening.

Also do you have any optionally installed eg: Firewall, / Security program or optionally installed Antivirus program or VPN running resident on your Mac other than the default Mac OS ?
