thank you for sharing your idea on the forum, where our developers can consider it.
Unfortunately, since Whatsapp is primarily a texting service between mobile phones as a replacement for the regular SMS text messages, it does not seem crucial to add this option as an IM contact detail when adding the phone number to your contact gives you all the information you need for Whatsapp.
