Yahoo Mail Issues - Slow Sync / Missing Emails / Slow Message Download & Uploading

I’ve been using EM Client for possibly 8-9 years now. I have it installed on multiple computers using multiple email accounts. I really like eM Client, however, my main email from Yahoo keeps having issues like slow syncing, missing emails, slow downloading and sending (I have 500mpbs internet). I just discovered this forum and seems like others may have this issue too?

All my emails load instantly on my phone apps and webpage logins. While using eM Client on Windows 10/11, all my other services like Gmail load up very fast. It’s just Yahoo (Turbify?) that doesn’t seem to be fully connected, and I’ve had this issue for a very long time. I think it’s time to get this fixed.

That sounds suspiciously like Yahoo mail issues to me being that your Gmail account in the same eM Client works fine and Yahoo have been plagued with problems for years “with many different mail clients” connecting and synching mail etc.

eM Client did an update in Aug 2022 V9.1.2109 which fixed Yahoo connection issues “with the new Yahoo.api etc” at that time which seemed to work for myself. I personally still have no Yahoo issues.

The latest V9.2.1735 (PC) or V9.2.1838 (Mac) include those fixes from the release history page.

However as you are still having issues with your Yahoo mail sync issues in eM Client, “if you already have the latest version”, and “already tried removing and re-adding the account”, and you are using the following Yahoo IMAP settings, then you will probably need to send in connection logs etc to be diagnosed.

Server - imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port - 993
Use SSL/TLS on special port (legacy)

So if you are a current eM Client pro active customer, suggest to go to support.emclient.com and login with your registered email address & password and lodge a support ticket with these issues.

“Support for new Yahoo IMAP API (Message limit and UID Only modes”

Thanks for the detailed information Cyberzork. Looks like all my setting are right.

I stopped receiving Email from yahoo.com into my EmClient Inbox as of 12 noon on Monday this week.

My EmClient is up-to-date.

I removed my Yahoo account from EmClient then added it back again Cyberzork.

I never like doing that…

But it is working again now !

I just got an email from my ISP where I use eM Client for it via iMAP settings.

I contacted them about intermittent missing emails (most of the time it’s with Yahoo) and they urged me never to use an email client to access my emails. They said to only use the web based interface to access email or I may run into synch issues like I have.

I’ll just add that many senders over the years have informed me they sent email to my yahoo account but I never received it. My settings are all verified correct. It seems Yahoo and my ISP email have issues.I am not aware of any issues like this with Outlook (Live Hotmail) or Gmail. Then again, I rarely use them for personal important emails.

Interesting that I got an email about your post. I’ve been using EM Client for maybe 9-10 years now. Several years ago when Yahoo changed to Verizon and now Turbify, my emails come in very delayed. I’m not missing the emails but it just doesn’t get retrieved immediately which is a bit of a hassle. I love EM Client except for this issue. I have them installed on multiple computers, I’ve installed it many times everytime I changed computers too. Just yesterday I tried to switch my employee over to Thunderbird and it loads the emails immediately. However she keeps complaining about the layout and wants me to put back her delayed EM Client. I’m getting a little fed up about this because it only happens with EM Client and Yahoo Mail. I was just hoping it would resolve itself but it never has. :face_exhaling:

I appreciate you taking the time in replying!

Before reading your post and others here, my initial suspicion was that the issue lies between eM Client and Yahoo. I wanted to approach this cautiously, as discussions about software can sometimes lead to sensitive reactions or attempts to deflect responsibility.

In the past, I’ve used several OEM clients such as Outlook Express, Windows Live Mail, Thunderbird, and Outlook from the Office suite, and I’ve never encountered this particular issue before.

Recently, there’s been a new development: I encountered an issue with my ISP’s email account yesterday, which is something entirely new and hasn’t happened before as well.

With eM Client and Yahoo, I’ve noticed some unusual occurrences, such as blank lines or paragraphs appearing in emails when viewed in the Sent items, despite them not being in the original version. Interestingly, this issue seems unique to Yahoo and eM Client, despite my use of over a dozen email accounts with various providers. This leads me to believe it’s more than a coincidence tied specifically to this combination of software and email provider.

I wouldn’t be surprised if eM Client doesn’t always play nicely with Yahoo sync settings other than POP configurations. In fact, one can debate that in the corporate world Outlook and back in the day Novell Groupwise were the popular email clients. Then again, they only used one email domain, so…

Several years ago when Yahoo changed to Verizon and now Turbify, my emails come in very delayed. I’m not missing the emails but it just doesn’t get retrieved immediately which is a bit of a hassle.

That delay then sounds like either “mail server issues” or “mail server routing issues” being as you said this happened when Yahoo changed to Verizon and now Tubify.

My own Yahoo.com IMAP account using the latest eM Client Desktop V9 or V10 on Windows and Mac & even eM Client on Droid & iOS mobile receives without any delays on Fixed line Broadband or Mobile 4G data. So I can’t fault eM Client.

I would be contacting your technical support at whatever internet connection you use and tell them you are getting mail delays to your mail client from your Yahoo mailbox and they can test it from their end. Tell them you use eM Client.

The only other things that can sometimes cause delays updating mail in a client is background programs interfering with the mail client such as eg: Antivirus email scanning or Firewall / Security programs or VPN’s. So if you have any optionally installed programs like that other than what comes default with your OS, try completely disabling those to test.

Just an update. The sender who is new but I haven’t received an email from before but have from the senders domain re-sent the email and this time I received it.

What I did differently is removed yahoo from eM Client. To assist in my troubleshooting, the sender is open to send another email in a few weeks depending on their workload.

As long as you are using a recent eM Client version, this could be happening if you are eg: replying or forwarding an email that was originally sent to you using another mail client “that may not be using standard html code” or has “unsupported html code”, or has “pasted webpage html content” that also might be non standard code. So can be many reasons.

The only way to know why this is happening, is if you have eM Client Pro and have an active subscription, you can lodge a support ticket via logging into the following page and sending in your sent email source code to be checked out.

That’s very Interesting.

If I understand correctly, the issue of blank lines or paragraphs appearing in Sent items in eM Client when using Yahoo Mail likely stems from how eM Client interprets HTML formatting from emails.

Despite using the latest stable version (9.2.2258.0), these discrepancies persist, highlighting potential shortcomings in how the eM Client handles HTML content, especially from emails with non-standard formatting.

The latest versions are beta versions, While they may offer new features and fixes, it’s generally prudent not to install them on production systems due to the risk of encountering bugs or instability.

Therefore, it seems reasonable to acknowledge that eM Client, while generally reputable, is in need of major improvements in how it manages HTML rendering and email format compatibility, particularly with Yahoo Mail.

However, I am not using HTML in my replies or composing of email. I have it selected to text only formatting. The only time I use HTML is when I reply to an HTML email. But I believe is automatically converted to plain text.

But…my issue is when I am composing a new email (not reply) in plain text mode.

You would then need to provide examples of those HTML message issues “with the Source code” and send them into Pro support to be checked out.

If you reply to an html message, it normally would be sent as html as that’s the way it was received, and will be viewed at the recipients end as html, unless “the recipient choose to only view messages in text mode” in their mail client.

The only time it normally wouldn’t be sent as HTML is if you manually changed your reply message body to Text mode after hitting reply.

But…my issue is when I am composing a new email (not reply) in plain text mode.

If the issue is "only with composing (non html) text messages, then update below an example of what you are seeing in your sent folder of the problem and exact steps to create it, so we can then see if we can replicate it. Blank out anything personal.

Also are you pasting anything into your text only message from any external source ?, or only using the compose options within eM Client.
