Workarounds for shortcut-starved ex-Postbox users

  1. You can set up one-key shortcuts for tagging in Quick Actions, which gives you more options than just the Cmd-FnKey menu in the Tags manager.
  2. Some of eM’s built-in multi-key shortcuts can be changed to one-key in the Shortcuts section, under General in Preferences.
  3. Navigation shortcuts can be set up using a third-party app like Keyboard Maestro. I’ve set up shortcuts to click on Inbox, Unread, and various tag folders, as well as the Primary, Update and other category headings. I’ve also set up a shortcut to open the “Filter” menu, which can then be accessed using the first letter of the desired option.

Very helpful, thanks! I changed the multi-key shortcut for “Move to Folder” to “v” (the shortcut used in Postbox). You can then type a few letters to find the folder you want (like in PostBox) but… then your hands have to leave the keyboard to mouse down and click on the folder.

Here’s the path to make changes to the eM Client built-in shortcuts: Settings/General/Shortcuts

Wish there was something equally quick for adding tags on the fly.
