Yesterday, I installed the latest update for Windows 11, identified by KB5058499.
I also updated emClient, and so I noticed that my emClient didn’t show up. No splashscreen, nothing. In the Task Manager, emClient was shown as being loaded, consuming approximately 29 MB. Panic.
Uninstalling the Windows update corrected everything.
We have tested the Windows update and were not able to replicate the issue yet - did you try restarting your device after the system update?
Alternatively, please download the installer for the same version of eM Client you currently use - Release History | eM Client
Run the installer again and select the REPAIR option.
When I opened my PC, I found your message and Windows asking to reinstall the update. I allowed the update, emClient showed the problem again, and repair corrected it.
If I can help find out what happened, please let me know.
the repair result was successful but still couldn’t open em afterwards. I checked the task manager in which it showed em was running at background though. I rolled back the windows update (KB5058499) and now it is back in working order. KB5058499 is a preview update from Microsoft though. Not sure why it blocks to open em.
Thank you for the additional details, we installed the preview on more device and still no luck replicating the issue, so we would really appreciate more details (from you or anyone else with this Windows update issue willing to give us more details).
What DPI/display settings do you use? Please include both the Scale and Resolution setting details.(Go to system Settings and search for Display settings section)
Are multiple monitors in use? If so, please include display details for both.
What graphic card does your device use? (In Task Manager check Performance - GPU, it should show the name)
Do you use any custom theme setting or something out of the ordinary in your system to change the UI or Windows?
I’ve the same issue. I have two 27’ 2560x1440 Monitors and one 24’ 1920x1080 Monitor. All with 100% scaling. The two bigger ones are connected via DP and the smaller one via HDMI to my RTX 3080. I only changed my default theme to dark via windows settings.
I restarted Windows and encountered the old problem again.
Answering your questions:
1920 x 1080, 60 Hz, 8 bits, RGB, 100%
I use only one monitor
My GPU is an Intel UHD Graphics 630 31.0.101.2134
I don't use any custom theme settings or something out of the ordinary in your system to change the UI or Windows
Repair didn’t work, reinstall didn’t work (!).
Some output of HW Info, more available:
Microsoft Windows 11 Professional (x64) Build 26100.4202 (24H2)
Microsoft Hyper-V is actief.
Intel Core i5-8500T
Last update KB5058499
I think my computer is a fairly standard Windows desktop.
My case also. eM Client is running in the background (in the process explorer) but not showing. I need to kill the .exe process a few times and restart it a few times to load it (just killing the process once and restarting it once doesn’t help—you need to insist a few times).
Thank you all for all the details, we have reported the issue to MS Support (no response yet, but they are aware) and we are also looking for workarounds on our side.
I also have an issue where since 1.5 weeks emClient crashes every day during usage. The process is running in the task manager but even when killing it I am not able to start emClient anymore. I have also update KB5058499 installed.
