Why "Primary" and "Other" in Inbox

Sorry, newbie here. Trying to figure out the ehy’s and wherefore’s of em-client layout.

My inboxes have these two categories. I did not create them. what is the criteria for some of my mail getting labelled “primary” and the rest of it “other”? In other words, now I have to look at two compartments of the same inbox. Why is this?

I just want one inbox per account. Can I do this?

It’s because you elected to use Categories during the installation.

If you later decide not to use categories, you can disable them in Menu > Settings > Mail > Categories.

I must have missed a mention about categories in the initial setup. (I was importing from Postbox.)
