Why does my gmail Calendar have a my Hotmail account for it's name?

Hi,

I have just started to try and use eM Client.

This is the first issue I can’t solve on my own. I was using Windows Live so when I installed eM I used the wizrd to Import all my eMail, contacts and Calendar items. Then I added my cMail account with the Calendar items. The calendars sync but my gMail calendar has the really annoying feature of being named after my Hotmail account! I have tried deleting the accounts and only having the gMail account that didn’t work, I have now completely uninstalled and deleted the eMail Client folder the uninstall leave behind. Re-installed and configured only my gMail account and still it has my Hotmail account name! The folder location is also my hotmail account.

See pic below.

Please can you help.

Hello Dave, I’m not completely sure what kind of setup with the application you’re using, if you’re using a gmail account, can you please make a screenshot of your account settings from Tools > Accounts > Your account, and submit the screenshots of your IMAP and Calendar settings here on this forum?

Based on a look at this screenshot it seems like this might be a shared calendar with from your hotmail account, does the calendar show your hotmail calendar items or does it seem like it was only renamed?

Thank you,

Hello Paul. Thank you for replying. I am adding two more screen shots as requested.

I think it is a shared calendar but if I remove my hotmail account it keeps the name. I have even removed the eClient, deleted the app folder and reinstalled using only my gmail account and it still names the calendar after my hotmail account. It’s like there is something not being removed when the client is uninstalled! Like something I just can’t get rid of. But even so…

I have been through my gMail calendar setting a number of times now and don’t believe the issue is there.

Where does the name get stored?

Regards,

Dave

Hello Dave if you’ve setup a sharing for the calendar, you can not stop sharing the calendar by removing the account from eM client, or by reinstalling the application. In order to remove the subscribed calendar you have to reset your sharing preferences for the calendar in your calendar settings on hotmail.com.

Hope this helps,

Hi Paul, I’ve checked my hotmail setting and the calendar is and was not being shared. So that is not the answer I’m affraid.

What next?

Regards,

Dave

Can you please navigate to Tools > Settings > Advanced and enable GData logging for the problematic account? Save the settings and go to File > Work offline and back to force account re-sync and restart the application.

After you do so, please go back to the advanced application settings and submit the logging data to us for more information about this issue. Submit the data to my work mail, [email protected] with a reference link to this forum topic.

Thank you,

Anyone,

I have solved this myself. Basically the name does come from my Google calendar but what I had to do to get the name I wanted was first, goto my Google Calendar, put a rubbish name into the Calendar Name and Save it. Wait for it to bleed through to eM Client them rename it again to what I wanted it to be, Save the Calender Details in google and again wait for it to change in eM Client.

I hope this helps someone.

Dave

Hello again Dave, glad it works, make sure to let us know if you come across any other issues or questions about the application, we’ll be happy to help.
