I am a new user. My contacts list shows empty. But the soft ware will find an address from some source unknown to me. has my former Thunderbird address list been copied or not
If you imported from Thunderbird, then they will probably be in Local Folders.
Make sure Local Folders are enabled by selecting Menu > Settings > General > General > Show Local Folders, then click on Save & Close.
Go to the Contacts section of eM Client and click on the Local Folders contacts folder.
I’m a new user too. I imported the contacts from a CSV but they do not appear in the contacts section but I can use one of them to create an email. Where can I view and modify these imported contacts?

During the import you should be able to select the location, but if you don’t see them under any synchronized accounts, they are probably under local folders.
Enable Local folders to be visible in menu>Settings>General>Folders and then check again.
