where can I find my activation key?
@havlicek if you lost it here Lost Activation Key | eM Client
if your just looking for it its under help
I still can not make the upgrade work on this computer, and must be doing something stupid or wrong. I now get a message that the current version will not support the upgrade to V10, and can find no way to insert my activation key. Meanwhile, em client only works in offline mode on this computer (*em client V9 is fine on my other), and I don’t see a way to do the upgrade and get em client working again. I would have assumed that I could just start em client and insert the activation code or find an “upgrade” button under license section. Can you walk me through the steps to getting em client working online again and doing the upgrade?
Hello again. This is getting frustrating. Short of getting help with the upgrade, I would even be fine with downgrading back to V9, but I cannot figure out how to even do that. You can consider my purchase of the V10 upgrade as a donation at this point. I just want em client to function.

When you go to “Menu / Help / License” if you previously downloaded eM Client V9 from the eM Client website, you will be able to activate your license or deactivate and reactivate with your license you received by email in the field.
However if you previously installed eM Client V9 via the Windows store then there is no license field to activate the same or any later version as @Gary advised in the thread below.
So if you purchased a V10 upgrade from the eM Client website directly and you want to use that version, then you would have to first make a backup of eM Client via “Menu / Backup” and then once done uninstall the Windows store version and “delete the mail database if asked”, and then download eM Client either via the link in your email or via the eM Client download page & install.
Then skip the setup and then restore your backup via “Menu / File / Restore”. Then once restored, go to “Menu / Help / License” and enter your new V10 license and activate & will be good to go.
Hi. I have done exactly what you have said and I am stuck in an endless circle of issues. Upon starting up again, I got the message that a newer version of em client is available and em client always suggests upgrading. My current version is V9 Pro, so I tried once again to follow the screen prompts and now get the same two options:
->either downgrade, with all that entails
->or follow the upgrade
I follow the upgrade, inserting my activation code and can now only use em client on this computer in offline mode. I have been assuming that this is all because I am doing something obviously wrong, but am now convinced that your “upgrade” process is kludgey and prone to issues. I have worked with a lot of software over the years and have never had these kinds of problems. em client really needs to get their act together with upgrades. Now I am going to have to go through the whole downgrade thing again and just ignore the upgrade nag messages, even though I paid for the upgrade.

If you have purchased V10 upgrade and cannot upgrade via the normal automatic upgrade, then “close eM Client” and go to the release history page and manually download the latest version and install that. Then open eM Client & try that.

I follow the upgrade, inserting my activation code and can now only use em client on this computer in offline mode.
Go to “Menu / File / Work offline” and see if that’s checked. If it is “uncheck it” and then close and reopen eM Client and then see if it works.
Now if eM Client is still in offline mode then that usually means something is wrong with “either your current V9 Pro license” or “your upgrade V10 license” in which case you will need to go to the VIP support page and login and lodge a support ticket to be investigated and further assistance.
Thanks. I am going to stay on V9 Pro, I’ve already wasted way too much time (*days!) on this and now it seems as though I have lost some of my contacts along the way. A real shame though.
@havlicek its really very simple you just need to convert your old key for a small fee
