Where Did My Notes Go?

My Fastmail account has a Notes feature and after syncing the account into emClient I have a Notes folder for it, and it contains the Notes I previously created on Fastmail.

With that folder selected I created a Note, hit “Save and Close” and .. nothing. It isn’t shown in the Notes folder in emClient and didn’t upload to Fastmail. Two more Notes similarly disappeared.

Where did emClient put them? The “Notes” dropdown in the Notes popup is empty so I’ve no idea what that’s supposed to do. The links the forum popped up “Your topic is similar to…” seemed to confirm Fastmail should work (it has a CalDav interface) but in any case I see nothing to explain “local notes” and how they can be viewed.

Is your Fastmail account an IMAP or Exchange account setup ?

As if you have and IMAP account setup, Server Side notes as far as I know don’t normally sync to or from eM Client.

Yes It does sync with an account setup such as Exchange, Office 365 or Icewarp and CalDAV servers that has the notes feature as per the Notes page.

Have you previously been able to sync notes from eM Client back to Fastmail ?

This is my first time trying the aspect of emClient.

Fastmail does support CalDAV as I’ve used it in the past for file transfer, and the information I’ve read on the page you linked to and others say “and sync notes across all your devices. Works with Exchange, Office365, IceWarp and CalDAV providers that provide a Notes feature on their server” which is why I was expecting it to work.

When I click “Save and Close” the data entry form closes without any feedback and I’m back at the main emCLient window in the Notes folder but the Note I just saved simply isn’t anywhere to be seen. I’ve now done this three times but it seems either the '‘save’ simply didn’t happen or it got saved in what I’ve seen called “local storage” but I’ve faild to find any information on the Notes FAQs as to just where this “local storage” is beyond the emClient of Roaming which I’ve scoured without success.

So as you have only just setup eM Client, suggest to email [email protected] to see if the Fastmail Server Side Notes is supported. Let them know if you are using IMAP or Exchange.

Local notes in eM Client won’t sync to Fastmail Notes.

You could also contact Fastmail support as to if they support server side notes with eM Client either via lodging a support ticket via their contact form link below or via their email address.

I think I’m giving up on this, I can’t find any information about what ‘CalDAV’ support for Notes is in view of the fact Fastmail DOES provide CalDAV support for file transfers which I’ve used many times.

Also, the fact that the Notes I created simply vanished without trace makes me fear using it in case this is simply what can happen .. if an error occurred it didn’t tell me and again, try as I might I can’t find any meaningful explanation as to how this is supposed to work in the documentation I can find in the FAQs.
