Where are IMAP settings

I am just starting; I want to download by IMAP so my emails stay on the server. I don’t see where I can see the setting before I choose to add the email account. Is the default IMAP, even if you select the attachments? Also, where on the main screen do you go to add another email account and select the download settings and ports etc?
