What's happened with Fandango emails? Locks up eM Client

Earlier this week, when I had scrolled down through my ‘weekly flier’ email to one of my primary email addresses, from Fandango, eM Client just locked up. I figured it was some fluke and had to restart eM Client and wait for it’s “checking the database” process. I just received another weekly from Fandango and again the same thing happened. I’ve received quite a few emails from Fandango, so I went back to the last several, as this had not happened before, but sure enough, going back several months, they all now lock up eM Client, whereas they never had before.

I’m now careful when scrolling through Incoming emails and skip over the Fandango ones. As long as I don’t allow the Fandango one to become ‘active,’ i.e. clicking on it or deleting the email just before it, I’m OK. None of my other dozens of daily emails are showing this quirk. I’m not even sure how to look at the full address so I can blacklist it.

How should I approach this annoyance?

ETA: Since the entire email address doesn’t show on the INBOX appearance of each email, I’m just going to assume that these emails from Fandango are from: “…fandango.com” , so I’ve just gone ahead and blacklisted the domain. That “should” help block new emails, but I still can’t find a way to get rid of this email from my INBOX. I haven’t found an option in eM Client to deal with an email which doesn’t require highlighting it first, which instantly freezes eM Client.

Hi, thanks for the report. Could you please send us one of the example emails? If you right-click it and select Save As, it should not freeze as long as you don’t select it using left click.

OK, done. Have fun with that particular email.

I’ve been using eM Client for a few months now, but I’m still learning the ins and outs! One MAJOR new ‘trick’ you just showed me is that the right-click popout offers a whole slew of acts we can perform on one of our emails without actually selecting it, like you suggested to have me send you a copy of my offending Fandango still sitting in my INBOX like a mousetrap, without highlighting it. Not only being able to ‘copy’ it, but also my favorite: “Move to trash and blacklist domain.”

So, I was actually able to get rid of a couple of land mines in my mailbox after all. I’m tempted to just do that directly while checking my mail, but I’ve already fallen into that hazard, of blacklisting junk mail without carefully checking the return address - the problem of course being that some spammers insert my real email address in place of the ‘return’ address. The results were not funny.

I have had the same problem, only with Fandango. I have to either wait to get another email. so I can delete it out of the list, or I have to delete it out of the web client.

When you see the next offender incoming, just be sure to use a right-click on the email in your INBOX list, then choose “Move to Junk” and maybe “Move to Junk and blacklist domain.” That seems to work for me: the email disappears and hopefully stops the next one cold. If/when Fandango gets what could just be a marketing software bug fixed, I can just take them off my eM Client Blacklist. I’ll bet they’re already working on it.

We’ve just released an update with a fix here: Release History | eM Client
