What does ‘Breakpoint A breakpoint has been reached’ mean

I just experienced the above error message this morning with eM Client v11 (Windows).

After closing the error window, eM Client still appeared to be working as usual. However, I decided to close it and re-open it to be sure. Upon trying to run it again, I found it wouldn’t open. I checked Task Manager and found it still running in the background. So, I end-tasked it and was met with a brief message (only showed for approx. .5 seconds before disappearing) saying something about the process being non-existent.

I was then able to re-start eM Client, which had to perform the usual ‘integrity’ checks after an incorrect closedown.

Everything seems to be working OK now, but I am curious as to what that error was about.

I did a search in the forum to see if others have experienced this as well, and found an unanswered post about the same message from 2017!

If anyone knows what this is about, I’d appreciate any information you might have.

Break points are inserted in code so the developers can halt the program at a certain location or under certain circumstances for debug purposes. Shipping debug code to customers is something professionals don’t do. Usually the releaase process would not allow for this to happen.

Thanks for the explanation! :slightly_smiling_face:
I suspected it was something like that.
