What application or message files are stored on my hard disk?

I had my hard disk wiped in November 2023. I lost all the mail that was in my inbox as a result. I’m going to have to reinstall Windows again. What is the file directory structure that is holding my emails?

As you had your Disk wiped there will ne nothing left so unfortunately your question is irrelevant. If you had been using IMAP email with eMC, when you create your accounts, providing they are identical to what was previously in use, whatever is on the mail server will sync with your new installation of eMC.
However, if you have a Backup file of your old installation, when you install eMC skip setup and run Menu ->File ->Restore (before you run Restore place the Backup file in …Documents/eM Client - create the eM Client folder if it does not exist)

I’m sorry my message was not clear.
My disk was wiped and Windows and all apps were reinstalled back in November. Now I face the same problem as in November. I do not want to lose my emails this time.
Can someone tell me the folder path that emClient uses to store the application and/or inbox messages on my hard drive?

As @skybat advised if you normally backup eM Client regularly either manually or automatically via the settings, you can then easily restore it (if something happens to your hard disk) via “Menu / File / Restore”, as long as you also copy the eM Client backup.zip files to either eg: a second internal or external or cloud drive. This is the easiest backup and restore method.

The default backup location is “Documents / eM Client” folder in your user profile. If you backup your entire user profile regularly to another drive “then that will also obviously include the eM Client backup folder”. The backup.zip file holds your entire complete account including settings etc.

If you want to setup automatic periodic backups, go to “Menu / Settings / General / Backup” (Pc) or “eM Client / Preferences / General / Backup” (Mac).

If you prefer to regularly manually backup eM Client, then click “Menu / Backup” (Pc) or “File / Backup” (Mac). You can see when the manual backup is complete via clicking the dropdown on the right of Refresh at the top left and then clicking “Show Operations”.

To follow on from the detail given by @cyberzurk before you consider your reinstall in view of the fact that as you say “Now I face the same problem as in November” you would be prudent to investigate the cause to obviate the possibility of history repeating itself.
You refer to “Hard Disk” I assume HDD, maybe there is a bad segment, in any event you would definitely gain an increase in performance and stability by replacing an HDD with an SSD (you will getter better eMC performance as a bonus)

To make it easier to install & setup eMC do this:>>>>>

Follow these steps:

On the old device:

1./ Create a backup: Menu ->Backup
2./ Deactivate the license on this device: Menu ->Help ->License
3./ Find the .ZIP backup file and move it to your new device (with a USB)
The default location is …\Documents\eM Client)

On your new device:

1./ Install eMC (www.emclient.com/dist/latest/setup.msi)
2./Move the ZIP backup file to: …\Documents\eM Client (create the eM Client folder if it is not there)
3./ Skip initial setup
4./ Restore from your backup through Menu ->File ->Restore
5./ Activate your license in Menu ->Help ->License

NOTE>>> You might get lucky and the Backup will move over your registration, if not email [email protected] explain and they will do it for you.

I am not ignoring the problem; I have worked through many recommended steps (chkdisk, error message log, etc.) and have not found the source of the problem. In addition, the computer is freezing every few minutes and must be restarted. I will purchase a small laptop for internet access and shut the computer off for now.

Thank you, skybat and cyberzork, for assisting me with saving my emails before I clean off my disk. Your interest and support is much appreciated. Now my computer is about to freeze to I have to go.

Problem is fixed! I deleted MS Edge and was trying furiously to launch it! That process was cancelled.
Thank you both again for your patient help. I will still use your instructions to ensure there is a backup.
