Visually differentiate E-Mail Accounts when composing messages

I’ve migrated from Thunderbird over to eM Client. In general I’m really happy with the move - there really isn’t much I miss in eM Client.

But one thing I miss dearly is the possibility to visually differentiate, which account I’m sending mails from. I’ve definitely sent mails from the wrong account before.

Thunderbird had this amazing AddOn called “Border Colors D” (BorderColors D :: Add-ons for Thunderbird) which allowed a definition of a specific color & pattern border around the compose window for each account.

Is there a similar feature in eM Client I haven’t yet found? If not, I’d like to request this feature to have as an option in eM Client.

Thanks! And best regards
Philipp

As far as I can say, this “account-indicator” is already available.
Just assing (custom) icons to your accounts.

Example:

Thanks for the input! Since I’d only set up the gray account symbols that came with eM Client I actually hadn’t noticed that. This could definitely be used to better distinguish the accounts. But the visual clue, albeit customizable to be colorful, is still quite small. It could still be overlooked. As compared to eg. this example from BorderColors (which is completely customizable - clues can be a frame, can be a thick or thin line at the top, can be a different background etc.

Same here, before adopting em clent I have sent a work email from my personal email account, creates confusion and doesn’t look professional.

My solution with em client is for the second account, in the account list, to right-click on the second account and “Show in New Window”. So personal email in one window, work email in another. When I reply to a message, the return email and signature are correct for the account. I haven’t messed up once in the couple of months ago of using em client after switching from PostBox.

I’m on a Windows laptop. Mac is similar?

This is an idea. But it’d be nice to be able to just use one window

Just found this Feature request - please upvote:

My method of “Show in New Window” to show each email account and associated messages in separate windows failed me . I wrote an important business message and sent it from my personal account. Because the contacts are common to all accounts in eM client, I could address the message in the personal account with addresses that should be associated with the work account.

The issue this created is long lasting as weeks later people in the original distribution list keep Replying-All to my original message and the work related messages are ending up in my personal email. And it’s confusing people as to my email address as now they see email of my home account.

For eM client to really work in a production environment, some kind of fencing or alert, as PostBox had, to warn about sending from the wrong account. This could be by associating contacts or domains with one account, a white list say.

What was that alert.

Did Postbox just show the Coloured account borders ? Or was there more than that ?

Can you show a postbox example screenshot ?

Here’s the description on the PostBox website

Additionally, if the outgoing message window could show the account name and maybe an avatar for that account, larger than the email address that shows now, that could be another visual signal. I know, much is operator error but anything to help avoid the embarrassment and hassle of sending from the wrong email address would be a really helpful feature.

Ok looks like there is already a Domain Fencing Sleekplan suggestion you can vote for.
