Visible Email doesn't match headers

Ok – I have a what I feel is a very strange issue - and I am in no way convinced the problem is with eM - but I have no idea where to start with this - so any direction would be helpful.

this is going to be a little difficult to explain so bear with me please.

I maintain an account in my client to receive inventory file attachments.

I have a rule that copies emails received on that account to an archive folder under inbox.

I noticed today ( I do not know when this started but it seems like it started in the last 7 to 10 days )
that the email visible in emclient appears to be a different email then the headers woudl suggest.

If I view the headers of the email they are that of a different email and if I save or open the attachment - I get the contents of the other attachment.

For instance - I see an email from vendor A - looks just like the emails I get from them, sender, subject, attachment name, etc. But if I open or save that attachment I notice the data contained in it belongs to Vendor B. If I view the email headers - the email is from Vendor B - but the display in em is for vendor A

If I open the email account up in my providers web mail - everything looks correct.

I just now upgraded to v9.2.1185 so I will see if the problem persists with new emails. I was on v.9.1.2109 prior.

any info is appreciated - this is a new one for me.

It may be some corruption in the database.

Close eM Client and open a Windows Command Prompt. Not a powershell, but a command prompt.

Paste in this command:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\eM Client\MailClient.exe” /dbrepair

When that is done, restart eM Client.

What is the result?

Previous items still show the same behavior - but new items this morning seem ok so far.

I can send screen shots in private if you like. For now I am going to keep an eye on it through the day.

thank you sir!

I had a similar problem a week or so ago but because it only occurred in a junk folder I wasn’t overly concerned. I believe the problem was gone the next day or perhaps whenever I opened eM Client the next time. When I clicked on any message the content was from the previous message in the folder.

so - the problem seems to have stopped - the older items in that time frame are still in correct - but that is not a major issue for me.

You can repair the folder where the messages are. This is different to repairing the databases, as repairing the folder will download the messages again from the server.

Right-click on the folder (if it is a Gmail or Google Workspace account, right-click on the All Mail folder instead) and choose Properties > Repair > Repair.
