Very slow mail retrieval since 7.0 update. It takes 20-30 seconds for an email to load.
Totally agree!! Super slow ,major lag, emails take for ever to load and it freezes up. Hate the new version/update. Any way to go back to the old version??
Same with me. Came here wondering what’s being said about it. It takes sometimes 30 seconds to open an email or to get a reply email. Also the reply email message or forward message window doesn’t appear in the front of other windows…it’s always buried behind things & I have to go searching for it. Kind of a pain.
Before you all panic and run back to version 6, do you have the download for offline use enabled? Otherwise by default in only downloads headers (at least for IMAP). The body of the email does not download until you actually select it.
Go to menu/accounts, select the IMAP tab and check “Download messages for offline use”. This will make for a much quicker message load.
The initial synchronization, however, could take awhile depending on tour email count and Internet speed.
It isn’t just downloading messages, though. It’s just clicking “New” and waiting for the new message window to open. Or hitting “reply” and waiting for that window to open. It didn’t used to be this slow; I actually updated to 7 a long time ago (it’s been months) and I don’t know if the version is responsible. I’m also noticing now that the whole emClient interface literally blurs slightly, like a blurry photograph, while it’s waiting to open a new window or reply. I am not sure whether it’s something to do with my computer in general, or the application. I have a significant amount of email stored and use a lot of processing power in my computer daily due to my work. I was just curious if this is an issue others are having or if it’s something on my end. My internet speed and connection seem to be fine with everything else I’m running. And no, I didn’t have download messages for offline use checked; I had had it checked, and if I recall correctly, it was not a good solution since I have so many emails…I just tried it again and now my email is hanging saying “downloading messages”… not sure what to expect now. I have had a host of other issues (messages going to an “all mail” folder in gmail, for example, but not getting delivered to my inbox no matter how many times I drag them back to the inbox…this could be a gmail issue, but it never used to happen, from people who it never used to happen to, or random latin cross symbols appearing in my messages wherever there appears to be a non-breaking space). I’m just trying to figure out what’s going on since it wasn’t always this way.
I have not seen any problems with speed. My initial program load (even after boot) is approx. 3 seconds and my speed for the problem areas you mention s almost instantaneous. My database is approx. 12 gb (gmail - 14,000 messages) and loading for offline use is fine.
It just makes me wonder if the problem is not your computer. Windows 10? Enough RAM? Low on disk space?
Yeah, that’s what I’m wondering, but my computer is relatively new & *should* have enough RAM and disk space…but I’m only seeing problems in my email app and nowhere else. That being said, I have over 91,000 emails. My unread folder is clean! But I have years of emails saved from about 6 different addresses for work and various clients. I’m sure there is a smarter solution for storing emails and still being able to come back to them when I need to, but it’s like one of those things where you stare at your messy closet and plan to come back to it but it’s just too overwhelming right now… LOL. I don’t exactly know where to start.
I did you recommendation, and it still takes 20-3- seconds for an email to load. I had not such problems before the update.
Although this thread is a bit old, there are so many on this general topic. It is easy to lay off a slow email list loading problem to someone’s computer speed, etc. I will just say one thing. eM Client is the slowest email client I have ever experienced since back in the pre-Windows MSDOS days with a 300 baud modem. But considering more modern clients, if I use any of my phone app clients to load exactly the same email list with the same number of emails, attachments, etc., it takes a few quick seconds. But on eM Client, it takes half a minute and often more. Whatever the reason is, eM is slow…period. That you have a beefed up computer might contribute to you having a faster download, etc., but I would think eM should be built to serve the general run of users, not only power users with lightning speed pc’s.
Thank you. I agree! Could you please recommend a reliable replacement?
That question is outside the scope of my post’s intention. Perhaps you could search and test. You might still find eM a better choice in enough ways to support improving it. I just don’t like AOL’s client or online web mail. So after comparing some clients by actually trying and comparing their pros & cons, I ended up using eM.
Hello everybody,
We’re very sorry for the inconvenience. If you’re experiencing issues with the 7.0.30068.0 version, can you please install this version? http://www.emclient.com/dist/v7.0.30242/setup.msi
Thank you,
