Versioning differences are not immutable

I am tired of emClient wanting to update. The version on the downloadable website is not compatible as to when the executable was compiled. You have a versioning issue that is not supported. I have to go into the apple “time machine” to get back the workable executables. And yes, emClient will bitch and bitch that I don’t have the latest version. But F! the latest version doesn’t work!

I was called out for complaining about this. I do not wish to be so again. A compiled version works on this computer, and yet the published version does not. Please fix and do not acoste me again for stating that your compiled versions are different because they are!

If you have a current paid Pro or Personal license go to the VIP support page and lodge a support ticket, and they can disable all future automatic updates for your license. If you have run out of your support time, you can extend that for another year via the following page.

A compiled version works on this computer, and yet the published version does not.

The official download version via the main eM Client website download page or the release history page versions all work. The only issues you can have is "if you install a later version either on an older unsupported OS, or “if you install a later version over an older version” where the database is not the same so will also give you install issues.

From a previous thread, you had Catalina OS which is no longer supported by eM Client or Apple, and you had accidentally upgraded to a later V10 and then uninstalled that. Then downloaded a previous V9.2.2144 which wouldn’t install. So you then restored your Time Machine and got it back up & running that way.

So if you still have Catalina OS, then to avoid restoring a time machine if you accidentally upgrade, is to regularly backup eM Client either automatically via “Menu / Preferences / General / Backup” or make manual backups regularly via “Menu / File / Backup”. Either way will create dated backup.zip files by default in your user profile “Documents / eM Client” folder.

So then if you need to restore if you accidentally upgraded, then you would “close eM Client” and then “drag the eM Client app from your Mac Applications folder into the bin / trash”.

Then go to the following below eM Client hidden database folder and “delete the eM Client folder”.

“Hidden mail database folder Mac”

“Users\yourusername\Library\Application Support\eM Client”

Then download “the same version” as you had previously from the release history page and reinstall that. Then “skip / cancel the setup” and restore your latest dated backup via “Menu / File / Restore”. It will then be the same as before.
