I use (the old) free Google Apps Account. In the Mail-server-settings I have to use xxx.googlemail.com instead xxx.gmail.com.
I don’t know if this is a problem for a normal Google Account, but the normal Google Account will work with xxx.googlemail.com too! (for sure)

can I ask what is the problem here? You want to use gmail.com instead of googlemail.com?
Because they are technically absolutely same email accounts, only different name. But if you insist on this you can try using alias.

I have the same issue. Every time I send an email there is a header saying “Send by [email protected] on behalf of [email protected]”. How can I get rid of this?
