Update 10.3.1738.0

Every time I open em client a pop up appears urging me to download new update. I follow instructions, get as far as ‘preparing to download’ and then nothing further. Is there a known problem please ?

Could be the setup popup wizard to update to the new version is eg: “on the taskbar or dockbar” or “is behind your current window” so you don’t see the update installer.

So first look down on the taskbar or dockbar or if nothing toggle around to see if the setup install wizard is behind your current window or app.

If you carn’t find it anywhere, then make a backup of eM Client via “Menu / Backup”. You can see when the backup is complete in Show Operations via clicking the drop-down on the right of Refresh top left.

Then once backed up “make a note of your current version” via “Menu / Help / About”.

Then close Client and then go to the release history page and download V10.3.1738 and then install that and update and that should then work fine.

You could alt optionally download the very latest V10.3.2040 for Pc or Mac which also has alot of fixes and updates.

Thank you so much for trying to help me. Have had a good look at task bar etc and not able to find anything. Not confident enough to try your other option. Maybe I will just have to wait for the next update ?

If you’d like to try installing the latest version, you can go to the release history page that cyberzork mentioned. If you’re using Windows, use this link: Release History | eM Client

If you’re using a Mac, use this link instead: Release History | eM Client. (Ignore that both links with show up as the same “Release History | eM Client” in this forum :slightly_smiling_face:)

Where you see “10.3.2040.0” in orange text on that page, that is actually a link. If you click on it, it will download that version for your computer.

Once downloaded, if you double-click on that downloaded file, you should be able to install from there.

I was brave, and with the extra help from emdash, went for the 2nd option, the latest download. Managed to do that and restarted laptop. checking the updates though, it still shows the old msg, 10.3.1738. Where can I see what version I have please ?

To see the version go to “Menu / Help / About” on Windows, or on Mac click “eM Client / About eM Client”

Ok that is an old version.

If you have Windows, did you originally install eM Client from the Windows Store page or the eM Client webpage ?. Or do you have a Mac ?.

My laptop is Windows 11. Unfortunately I don’t know how em client was originally installed. It was loaded on a previous laptop for me when it was set up more than 5 years ago.

Ok well we will see if it was the website version.

Back it up first via the menu as I advised in my post further up, and then once backed up, “close eM Client” and then “uninstall eM Client” and “don’t delete the database” when asked on the uninstall wizard.

Then install the latest V10.3.2040 from the release history page and see if that will then update when you check the about popup.

I have made a back up, as advised, then uninstall em client in add/remove programs.

I tried to install new version I downloaded. I was interrupted ‘my system has not been modified’. Close and try later
What now please ?

Restart your computer and the after your back to Windows, If it exists, delete C:\Program Files (x86)\eM Client folder, and then try installing V10.3.2040 again.

Could have been just some Windows glitch that interrupted the install.

Thank you so much cyberzok. I now have version 10.3.2040 (31d09e4) !! It interrupted again, but I tried allowing windows to make changes when asked, this time, and it all happened.
