the eMClient also offers a function for unsubscribe newsletter. This function has a bug if you are a member of a Google group. As a member of a Gmail group, you also have the option to unsubscribe from the group.
The eMClient function unsubscribe in connection with mails to a group causes you to leave the group and not the newsletter.
Can confirm this bug still exists as of 9.2.2157 and is a lot more annoying than it sounds - users mistakenly unsubscribe from their groups without knowing, and then later realize they’ve missed two weeks of group emails. I’m instructing all users to disable the unsubscribe bar.
Hi,
Do we understand correctly that these Group emails have 2 different unsubscribe links and the wrong one is shown in the header?
Can you please send us one of these messages saved as EML (right-click>Save as) to [email protected] for analysis?
the email comes from a Google Group and has no unsubscribe link in the body of the email
the email comes from a Google Group and also is marketing mail that has a third-party unsubscribe link in the body of the email
In both cases, emClient shows an ‘Unsubscribe’ link in the header, and in both cases that link unsubscribes the user from the Google Group. Groups are the primary way to set up internal distro lists in Google Workspace, so that’s an issue.
I sent an eml to info@ for analysis.
Here is a screenshot of a basic message sent to a Google Group and received by a member of that group in emClient showing the Unsubscribe link.
