I’m currently using version 9.2.2157. When the window opens notifying me of an upgrade, I clicked on it, it downloads, but the upgrade doesn’t show. What’s happening here?
Normally the automatic update works ok. Could be eg: the download setup / install window “is in the background” where you just might need to “toggle around” and then click install. Sometimes that can happen in the Win & Mac environment due to whatever is going on with open programs.
You can however then manually download the latest V9.2.2280 or the latest new V10.0.3530 from the release history page. The download file should be in your user profile download folder. After downloading “suggest you close all other open windows”. Now if you still don’t see the eM Client upgrade setup appear after clicking the downloaded file “look on the taskbar (Win) or dockbar (Mac)” as it will normally be flashing waiting for you to click to setup / install.
Before upgrading make a manual backup of eM Client via “Menu / Backup” just incase you need to restore for any restore. You can see when the backup is complete in Show Operations via clicking the drop-down on the right of Refresh.
Also close eM Client before installing new version.
I followed your suggestions & I got a “Congratulations” window thanking me for downloading. The window did not show any progression of installation, so I clicked out of it only to get a window saying that installation could not be completed. I re-opened eM Client & I still have version 9! Suggestions?
Since I’ve not heard back from you, I tried your suggestions once more & got the same result - no upgrade! Is it possible that my free version 9 cannot upload version 10? Everything else appears to be working fine!

Make sure eM Client is closed before you try installing the downloaded upgrade or it won’t work.
Now if the manually downloaded installation / setup file from the release history page is still not working or doesn’t complete, and “toggling around any open windows doesn’t show anything” and nothing is flashing on your taskbar or dockbar to setup / install or continue / complete the V10 setup as mentioned previously, then you could have a problem with your eg: user profile temp folder which installation files use, or you might have a problem with your OS itself somewhere.
So i can only suggest to try reboot your computer “if you haven’t already” and apart from that, you might need a friend or technician to come and take a look to see why the setup is not working.
Alternatively if your V9 works ok, and you have been making regular eM Client V9 backups, try restoring a recent dated backup when you know it was working ok via “Menu / File / Restore” and then try upgrading again by again closing eM Client and running the downloaded V10 setup.
Apart from that someone else on this forum might have some other ideas.

The version 10 upgrade I downloaded is “emclient-v10.0.3530.msi” & its size “130, 436 KB”. Per your instructions, I made sure that eM Client was closed before trying the installation of the above upgrade. When I double-clicked on the above file, I received an eM Client Setup window “Change, Repair, or Remove installation” with only 2 options: “Repair” & “Remove”. Note that there was no option for “Change”, so I clicked “Repair”. Frankly, I don’t understand why there is no option for “Change”! The next window “Repairing eM Client” seemed to take a long time but I finally got a window saying that “eM Client setup ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modified.” Please note that I’ve never encountered similar problems with other upgrades or even with upgrading to version 9 of eM Client, so I’m a lot a loss to know what to do next! Be also advised that eveything else with eM Client is working perfectly!
