Yes, but the thing is that when you do backup, that is the place where the zip file goes automatically, without asking you whether you want it to go there.

eM Client sets the default backup location on PC and Mac to “Documents / eM Client”. You can certainly change that save location in Settings where you setup the automatic periodic backup.

To change the default save location, click “Menu / Settings / General / Backup” (PC) or “eM Client / Preferences / General / Backup” (Mac).

It is all automatic. It should be manual. In my opinion.

You can certainly manually choose to back it up and not use the automatic option. Just disable the automatic periodic backup & manually do it.

To manually backup eM Client, click “Menu / Backup” (PC) or “File / Backup” (Mac).

And when you do restore, it does not ask you to select the zip file you want to restore from.

When you select restore, eM Client normally brings up all the backup.zip files in order from the latest dated backup to the oldest dated backup. You then choose a date and restore.

If it doesn’t, then we need to know what the popup message says when you go to restore?

Also what version of eM Client are you using?

To restore an eM Client backup click “Menu / File / Restore” (PC) or “File / Restore” (Mac).
