Unable to restore Backup into eM Client 7.1.3 being used on Windows 10

This is the continuous error message being received from the app:

Set the backup location to a secondary drive partition for the app to read from it but it fails to read the zipped file which is visibly present in the said location as mentioned in the response above.

Need help on this one…

Can you open the zipped file?

If you can, close eM Client and extract the contents to C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\eM Client. This will replace the previous database the same as Restore will do.

Hi Gary,
Thanks for the reply, I tried that but the zip file cannot be extracted into this default location as the app is not able to accept the extraction path.
Had to reinstall the app and start all over again after shredding the leftover files and backup data.

Open the zipped file by right-click on the file and choosing Open with > Windows Explorer. Then select all the files, and copy. Still in Explorer, navigate to C:\Users_username_\AppData\Roaming\eM Client. You may have to show hidden items to do that. When you are in the directory, paste. When prompted choose to overwrite.

BTW, you need to replace username in the path with your own username.

To start over again in eM Client, it is not necessary to reinstall. Just close eM Client and navigate to C:\Users_username_\AppData\Roaming\ and delete the eM Client directory. When you start eM Client again, it will be with an empty database.

Thanks, Will remember this for the next time.
And noticed one more thing every time any account is reconfigured the amount of data synchronized changes and is never the same from the previous session, is it because of how the Auto Archiving is enabled from within ?  This time i haven’t backed up anything manually yet to be saved locally except the Auto-archiving is doing it’s thing…

Yes, if you have Automatic Archiving enabled, and it has moved messages from the server to a local folder, then there would be less data to be synced with the server.

Just be aware that if you delete C:\Users_username_\AppData\Roaming\eM Client, you will also delete your archives.
