Two weeks ago I started to get the message that the password I set up for my Google Mail is invalid and I have not been able to retrieve or send email via my em client. I have not changed my Google account password since setting up my em client Account. The same password works when I log directly into my Gmail account.
If you are using a username and password for the Gmail account, you will need to setup your account again as that method is no longer supported by Google.

Mine is a new eM Client accout, version 9 using Gmail. I have calendar and contacts but cannot get email itself. I have the dreaded red triangle that says “Connection failed An attempt to connect to “my email” @gmail.com failed. This could be caused by temporary server unavailablilty or incorrect settings. Please check the settings or click on the warning symbol to try connecting again.”
As a test, can you completely disable any anti-virus, firewall, proxy or VPN, then try again.
Sometimes even restarting your router may resolve this.
