First problem:
Initially I had a hotmail issue - continuous password prompt for hotmail.com, but couldn’t connect to the account. I followed the advice to delete the account in “Account settings”, and have then added it again. It has re-appeared with no folders, and when I put the cursor on the account name, the main screen says “This folder contains no items and no operation can be performed”.
Second problem:
Since doing the above this morning, I am now having replication issues (the red exclamation mark) with my gmail account. Strangely I can send emails successfully from the account inside EmClient (although they don’t show in the Sent folder). During the deletion/adding of the hotmail account, I did not even look at the gmail settings, so this seems very odd

When you readded your Hotmail account, did you add it via the “automatic email wizard” and “click allow at the end of the wizard” in the browser popup window to give eM CIient access to your Hotmail account?
If you did, then could be you may have an outdated or older version of eM Client and might need updating. What version are you currently running?, and do you have Windows or Mac & os version.
