Turn off mail sync for a specific email address

I have an email address that is no longer valid but I would like to keep these emails. Is it possible to suspend or turn off synchronization of one email and leave the other email sync’ing active?

If you have a POP account, go to “Menu / Settings (Preferences) / General” and disable the checkbox “Download messages from POP3 accounts on startup”. Also go to “Menu / Accounts” and click on your account “General tab” and disable the “Include when sending / receiving emails checkbox” at the bottom of the account under Services & then save settings.

If you have an IMAP or Exchange account see @gary post below from the following thread.

“To disable the service go to Menu > Accounts and click on the General tab for that account. Scroll down to Services and untick IMAP. This will hide the IMAP folders in eM Client, and will no longer accept push notifications from the server, so no password prompt. To disable sending on that account, you can also untick the SMTP service”.

“If it is an Exchange account, untick Exchange Web Services”

If you no longer use that account but want to keep the emails “without hiding them”, then you can “create a folder down in Local Folders” at the bottom left of eM Client for that account called eg: Old Acct Mail, and then drag all your existing account mail folders under that. Then once you are certain all the mail is moved out of your account then remove the account. You can then still access those emails in eM Client anytime.

To enable Local Folders in V10, go to “Menu / Settings (Preferences) / General / Folders” and check the box “Local Folders” & save settings.

Or if you have eM Client V10, you can go to “Menu / Data Files” and create and external data file in your eg: Documents / eM Client folder which appears above Local Folders, where you could also create an eg: Old Account Mail folder and then drag all your existing account mail folders under that. Then once you are certain all the mail is moved out of your account then remove the account. The data file can then either be left open to access anytime or unmounted if you don’t need it currently.

“eM Client Data Files”

Or you could create a folder in your eg: Desktop or Documents called eg: Old Acct Mail, and then go to “Menu / File / Export” and choose “Export emails to .eml files” and click next and click on your account Mail folders you want to export and then click next and choose your desktop or documents Old Mail Account location path.

The account messages will then be available anytime to view, or to reimport via “Menu / File / Import” or import just via dragging the .eml messages back into an eM Client account folder.
