My filters apply gmail labels. When messages show up in the inbox, they have labels applied, but I can’t see the labels unless I log into my gmail on the web, or sparrow on my mac. in eM client, is there anyway to see which labels ahve bee applied to a message in my inbox?
Also, I would like to manually apply lables to items in my inbox. But the only way I can figure out how to do this, is to _move_ the message into the folder corresponding to the label. Usually I like to label something, and leave it in the inbox until I can deal with it. Currently there is no way to do this (that I know of).
Actually, when you copy an email to a folder you apply a label on it but the truth is that in eM Client you cannot see all labels applied to a particular message.
I am also trying to migrate to em client however, everything is labeled in gmail for quick searching and follow up. I need my labels to be productive. Any way I can get the labels to work in emclient? thanks! Tracy
That is a good point since I finally understand how the labels are used in GMAIL. If the GMAIL labels can be used, then there would be less customizing.
IMHO, it should be done as in Gmail. I am aware of the fact that this feature is Gmail-specific and that maybe not too many people depend on labels so heavily, but the current approach is not ideal. Consider the following scenarios:
(1) one would like to add a label to a message – okay, let’s just copy the message to the appropriate folder (this is acceptable);
(2) one would like to remove a label from a message – this is far from ideal, since deleting the message only moves it to trash on the server (= wrong) and moving the message to All mail forces the server to handle a duplicate of the message somehow (what exactly happens in such a case?);
(3) one would like to see all labels attached to a message – there is only one possibility, i.e., browse all folders and look for the message there (= time-consuming and tedious).
In sum: not only that one cannot see directly all the labels attached to individual messages, the labelling itself is also rather cumbersome.
I have voted for this as well. The concept of labels is very powerful - but no rich-client application supports it. I love being able to assign more than one label to a messge. This is much more powerful than the ‘folder’ concept.
I’d switch over to emClient in a heartbeat if it supported labels!
I just received this email.
Will the upgrade include ways to better manage gmail? Such as when we use labels?
"New Gmail and Google Apps features integration "
**Something I don’t know now:
Email shows up in eM Client inbox. I know it has labels assigned in gmail.
When I finish reading in eM Client I just want to make it “read.” In other words remove the “inbox” label. Thus message resides in All Mail with applicable labels.
What is your method for doing this? I’ve been clicking to “Move to Folder”, find AllMail and clicking again. I’d like a one click method.

unfortunately labels as labels would require redesing eM Client’s core and this is something very hard or almost impossible to do without rewriting eM Client from scratch at the moment…
You could in phase 1 one just show the labels in the view all messages and allow to change anything. This would be very useful.
Gmail is my e-mail and eM is my default client. I’m using gmail also in android phone and tablet and there everything is based on labels. I have up to 3 labels for a single message. Now when I want to manage the labels I do it in android, browser or another client. It’s not ideal but I can live with it.
as I have written before this would take to rewrite large part of eM Client’s code, so now I can say that we do not plan to change anything.
Only thing I know and can tell now is that when there are serious problems with labels our developers are always trying to make workaround, because we are proud of our compatibility with Gmail, so we can’t afford not supporting it.
Please, oh please, update this functionality I would GLADLY pay for lifetime license for this functionality so I can use your wonderful UI!
Plus I would shout your awesomeness from the rooftops(Social Media/In person), but I HAVE to have my gmail labels. Basically the power of gmail is that email can “be” in two labels at once. Meaning I can be piece of mail can be sorted by where it can be done, I.E. have the ‘@work’ label and simultaneously have the priority label of ‘1-Now’.
This kind of GTD functionality is the only way I keep my inbox at Zero and have some kind of control in my insane life.
Gmail Label support makes organizing easy
Dedicated Important view for high-priority messages
Send and Archive your messages in just one step
Add detected dates to your Google Calendar
Support for Gmail keyboard shortcuts for the power user
I gave the postbox a try. And I was ready to pay for it. But it was a short try.Not near the user experience eM can offer. I’m a bit sad.
Always when multi-labels are must, I use gmail over my browser till there is a better option.
Yeah postbox might be a nice client but one of the main reason’s I wanted to use EM was that it has a great UI that I can manage my Calendar from also. Postbox is just mail.
