Now it crashes on launch. cannot “repair”. cannot reinstall.
And mostly, I cannot work…

I had to roll back windows, ladies and gentlemen! Not the way things should go! What happened with today’s EmClient update? Who knows?
Context:
I remember that the EmClient updater several times “said” it was hanging… (because I was busy working and didn’t “accept” some admin approval dialogue soon enough). So it was not an fluent update, let’s say. But nothing that should cause such harm!
That is unusual and you might have eg: possibly had a database error prior to the update or possibly a registry error in Windows which caused the update to crash & not open / repair. I personally haven’t had that issue myself with the latest Windows 11 (25H2) June / July updates.
So if it still won’t repair or reinstall, then suggest to try creating a new database and see if it then opens, by going to the following hidden database folder and renaming it to eg: eM Client-Old .

C:\Users%username%\AppData\Roaming\eM Client
Then try reopen eM Client and if it opens ok “skip the setup wizard”. Next if you have been making regular eM Client backups either automatically via the settings or manually via the menu, then go to “Menu / File / Restore” and restore a recent backup when you know it was opening and working ok and go from there. Any emails since the backup will then update when it connects / syncs.
If you were not making regular backups, then go to “Menu / Accounts” and setup as new. If you have an IMAP, Exchange, Office 365 or iCloud account all your messages, contacts, tasks etc will come back from the server end. Then make a new eM Client manual or automatic backup.
If you had a POP account or messages etc in Local Folders, then you can do “a Partial Restore in offline mode” either from an eM Client backup or your user profile if that’s backed up on another drive as per the following page documentation.
Yes, something happened with this Microsoft release today.
This morning before the update, I used eMClient for some mail.
No problems then.
This afternoon I noticed an update was installed.
Went to start eMClient and Microsoft was all over it, wanting m to verify my MS Account..
Errors were reported saying I have to authorize my email accounts then it goes back to Microsift again.
Pretty obvious what is going on under the guise of security?
I will uninstall eMClient and reinstall it tomorrow, see what happens.
