I am using both Google Tasks and Microsoft To-Do, synced to eM.
When new tasks are added/edited/completed externally (e.g., via the web platforms), changes are not reflected in eM Client even when pressing ‘Refresh’, unless I actively switch the main window to Tasks and force refresh then. Looks like when the Task window is not in focus, they do not get synced. This makes the right panel practically not usable for tasks.
This happens with both accounts.
Adding or Modifying Tasks in Gmail Tasks & Outlook tasks online do sync for me personally when minimized within a few seconds to eM Client using IMAP Setups when manually clicking Refresh “without having to go to Tasks” using the latest V10.4.5608 Mac and V10.4.5606 for Windows.
So first if you have the same version, it could be possibly some eg: background resident program interfering with the syncing. If you don’t have the same version try updating to the latest version.
if you have any eg: optionally installed firewall / security programs or optionally installed antivirus programs or vpn’s “other than what comes default with your OS”, then try completely disabling those to test. Also if you have Windows try reset the builtin firewall to defaults to test.
If you have nothing like that optionally installed or you do but disabling to test makes no difference, then suggest next to try uninstalling eM Client and if you have Windows “don’t delete the database” when asked on the uninstall wizard. Then try reinstalling either from the release history page for PC or Mac or Windows store if you originally installed it from there and see if that fixes the problem.
Note:- Before uninstalling best to first make a backup via “Menu / Backup” incase you need to restore for any reason. You can see when the backup is complete in Show Operations via the dropdown on the right of Refresh.
If uninstalling and reinstalling eM Client makes no difference then suggest next to go to “Menu / Accounts” and “try removing and re-adding your accounts” via the automatic account wizard and see if that fixes it as could be a local account problem.
Lastly if removing and re-adding your accounts still doesn’t sync Tasks when not in focus, then suggest next to “close eM Client” and test with a clean database by going to the following hidden database folder and renaming it to eg: eM Client-Old and then reopen and setup as new.
(Hidden database folder Windows)
C:\Users%username%\AppData\Roaming\eM Client
(Hidden database folder Mac)
/Users/User Name/Library/Application Support/eM Client
