Greetings all. I have used em Client for about 3-4 years on my laptop and desktop PCs. I bought a new HP Envy Windows 11, 32GB, 1TB SSD laptop for my wife who has been an MS Outlook user.
I installed em Client on her new PC, copied her 17GB (yes) pst file over to the new PC and imported it. She has 100K+ emails in about 220 folders. That was over a week ago. Gmail has not yet finished synchronising with em Client .I now have all her folders as Local Folders and All Mail reports as continuously synchronising.
I am wondering if something has gone wrong here. Is it in a loop? How can I tell?
I know this has been posted several times but nobody seems have reported back that the PC did, in fact finish synchronising successfully. It’s kinda personal.

If you click on All Mail and it’s still synching “when you click Show Operations next to Refresh” then I suspect that is probably correct being there is over 100k+ of email in 220 folders.
My own 60k+ emails on a new Gmail IMAP setup initially took around 4+ days to fully sync. So suggest to just give it more time and ignore that it’s still synching atm. It will eventually get there.
Thank you for your reply. I have been watching the Operations panel which just shows that it is Synching All Mail. I guess that I should just be patient.
You can always close eM Client to dblcheck incase of any possible glitches and then reopen and click on the Gmail All Mail folder and then see in Show Operations if it’s up to around the same place.
Well, wouldn’t you just know it. About an hour after your first reply, the little circle chasing its tail to the right of the email address stopped spinning. I closed em Client and relaunched it. It span for about 30-40 minutes and has since stopped except for app launches and Refreshes. It works but it took somewhere between 8 and 10 days to fully sync. It is difficult to be certain of the exact time the sync took because initially I thought something just HAD to be wrong so I stopped and started it several times. I even removed em Client and then re-installed it.
Great now it’s all fully synced, make a manual backup via “Menu / Backup” incase you have to restore at anytime down the track. You can see when the backup is finished in Show Operations.
You can also optionally setup automatic periodic backups if you like via “Menu / Settings (Preferences) / General / Backup”. Also make a copy of the backup file or files on another internal or external drive incase of any disk crashes etc.
This is good advice. This is already set up on my other two em Client PCs. I have a 2 x 4TB mirrored NAS that I run continuous backup on using Syncovery on each PC. I then manually copy the NAS data to a 4TB USB disk abut once a month. THe USB disk then remains unplugged and sits on a shelf in my office. My hope is that if I get hit by ransomware I can recover my data from the offline backup - maybe…
Rule 1 of IT management. Make a backup. Rule 2. Make another one OFFLINE.
Thanks again for your help. As it turns out, em Cleint knew what it was doing and so did GMail. It just took time.
