On the ios app, there is an option “ Synchronize messages periodically” . Do I need this on and does it use extra battery? All my accounts aye Gmail accounts.

Where exactly do you see Synchronise messages periodically in the eM Client app?
Also what version of the iOS app do you have ?
Oh ok. Yes you normally “need that on” so the mail client checks for any mail changes and it doesn’t use anymore battery from what I’ve found on my iOS and Android devices.
I’m confused. I tested with that setting off, and it appeared to still show mail changes, new mail etc, so I am not sure what exactly that setting does.
I suspect that is for the eg: synching of the sub account mail / other folders, which then works with the Synchronize every X minutes below that.
